Premiership Era Best XI - Right Back

Has to be Walker but I also really liked Corluka.

Premiership Era Best XI - Centre Backs

King is the easy one. Tough call between Alderweireld and Vertonghen but I would pick Toby.

I only buy that argument to a point. To be manager of Spurs, you have to manage ALL competitions, not just the one you happen to be doing better in. It’s one of the things that really irked me about Ange. He essentially wrote off the league campaign and said we would have finished higher if not...

But it’s a results business and the results are eerily similar to last season. Certainly can’t say the results are an improvement.

The Palhinha yellow card was scandalous compared to the Romero red card. Palhinha’s tackle was strong but fair and he got the ball. How many times has Romero avoided red cards when he should have received his marching orders.

Personally I feel there is very little difference between teams that finish around 8th-13th/14th so in theory we could finish 8th or 9th and it wouldn’t be a false position. But I wouldn’t say we’re definitely not bottom half quality.

We can all see how superior the PL has become over the other European leagues by the performances of all the teams in the CL and Europa this season and last season. All 6 teams qualified for the CL knockout and 4 finished in the top 8. We won the EL whilst finishing 17th. United wiped the floor...

    Would relegation be that bad?

Agree with every word of this. Relegation is a possibility. I think Frank would need to go if we lose to Saudi Sportswashing Machine (he should have gone weeks ago) as the fans aren’t behind him never mind the team. One thing these last two seasons has taught me is to not take our PL status for granted. I always...

He hasn’t said anything about being hard done by. Frank has said it was a red card, I know his word doesn’t carry much weight right now but all the same. Footballers almost always contest red cards and very rarely accept they’ve done anything wrong. If Frank, Romero or the dressing room thought...

    Cristian Romero

He uses excessive force which is another thing the officials look at when assessing if a tackle deserves a card. He has a reputation for a reason.

Steff, Romero himself has apologised to his teammates. Do you not think that in itself is damning? He’s basically admitted he deserved to be sent off. As I said in another post, if you don’t want referees to NOT give you the benefit of the doubt over tackles like that then don’t get a reputation...

He’s partly responsible for this mess.

Thomas Frank - Former Head Coach

I’m of the opinion that Frank shouldn’t be our manager and have voiced that view for the best part of 2026. That said, we need to get this idea out of our heads that we’re a top 6 team, we’re not a top 6 team. Our forwards are bottom of the table quality. We don’t have any good passers in...

    Would relegation be that bad?

Villa would have been fudged if they hadn’t got promoted at the second attempt. No guarantee we would come back up. Every team would come to our shiny ground and want to beat us.
  16. Jurgen the German

    Cristian Romero

Even Frank isn’t defending Romero, and football managers will defend anything and claim they didn’t see things involving their players. Romero has apologised to his teammates so it’s case closed on whether it was a red or not. I’m fairly confident this red card won’t change the way he plays. I...

    Cristian Romero

Was about to post the same thing. It’s similar with players who dive. They will not get the benefit of the doubt. He is a dirty player. He’s probably got away with more than a few dodgy tackles because the refs/VAR dropped the ball, but the 50/50 ones just aren’t going to go in his favour.

    Would relegation be that bad?

How much would season tickets cost? Surely they’d be reduced? Still think the cutoff for away games will be stupidly high as everyone will want to see new grounds. Imagine Arsenal win the quadruple and we go down.
  19. Jurgen the German

    Cristian Romero

People will say “his reputation got him sent off today”. Well perhaps don’t get a reputation for being a dirty player who accumulates cards in the first place. Another line that gets trotted out is that he “plays on the edge”. He needs to manage how close he gets to the edge. Any regular on GG...
