The Limp Struggle to Sneak into the top 4 2021/22

Yes its a somewhat irrelevant stat as Leicester having occupied a 1-4 spot for most of the period yet finishing 5th proves. Equally in the Lasagnegate season Woolwich were outside of the Top 4 from 3rd December until the final 45 minutes of the season in May! However, I'm at risk of disproving...

The Limp Struggle to Sneak into the top 4 2021/22

We really need to stop considering ourselves to be a Top 4 team. In the last 90 matchday weeks going back to September 2019 we have only occupied a position in the Top 4 on 9 occasions. By contrast West Ham have been in there for 12 weeks and Leicester for 67.

The Limp Struggle to Sneak into the top 4 2021/22

Conference qualification is now down to the 6th spot as Liverpool play Chelsea in the League Cup Final. However, should any of the teams who finish in spots 1-6 win the FA Cup (the current top 4 and us are all still in it) then 7th spot gets Conference League.

    **** Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur ****

I think Conte didn't handle the League Cup semi-final's well at all in terms of his selection (particularly the second leg) and his general demeanour which looked very defeatist and I'm sure permeated its way into the team. However, I think bigger picture is that in a particularly busy schedule...

    ***** Tottenham v West "Massive" Ham *****

In hindsight I'd say we were in control for all of the second half. West Ham were brilliant for 3 minutes between us scoring first and then their equaliser. They really posed no threat through the centre and it looked as though we'd worked hard on preventing them crossing the ball - which apart...

Unbelievable that UEFA's 'Ethics' committee has taken this long to meet and come to a decision.

Spurs in the FA Cup 2021-22 - 5th Round: Middlesbrough (A)

Will be interesting to see ticket prices for this. As of 2017, we as the home team, make the decision on how much to charge. I'd expect it to be £25 adults and £5 concessions with family tickets available. They may choose to only open the lower tiers too as per Europa League games.

How often do we think UEFA's Discipline, ethics and pretending to be bothered by racism committee actually meets? You'd have thought this needed to be prioritised to have taken place this morning?

Only having gone down to an underwhelming 1-0 defeat in Sweden.....we'd then finally face our Waterloo having drawn the Belgian Papa Johns Trophy winners in the subsequent round :flushed:

Spurs in the FA Cup 2021-22 - 5th Round: Middlesbrough (A)

Our last Saturday 3pm KO in any competition was 25 January 2020 (Southampton away in FA Cup). You have to go back to Burnley on Sat 7 Dec 2019 (the Sonny goal!) for our last Sat 3pm home game. technically the Watford away game is a Sat 3pm although its also NYD i.e. a Bank Holiday. We've...

I listen to View from the Lane and regularly read Charlie Eccleshare in the Athletic - I must confess to never having heard of him prior to that. If it weren't for this board I would have no idea whatsoever that he is an Arsenal fan. its clear, like Jack Pitt-brooke that he's not a spurs fan (as...

    Keep/Sell - who?

a few of them have regressed considerably since even last season. What have we actually done to enhance the squad since he left? Romero is definitely an upgrade but currently injured and so suspect we wont see best of him until next season. Gil is a long-term project but looks nowhere near 1st...

    Keep/Sell - who?

An interesting way to assess individual players' ability is, for each of them, to go down the league table and work out where they'd be happily welcomed to become a part of their 1st XI. Totally subjective and I'm ignoring whether the other club would actually need them (which makes this...

Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

I firmly believe that Conte will get us outperforming against our level of ability. Equally I agree that he force Levy (via Paratici) out of his comfort zone in the transfer market. That said I think we're the 8th best squad in the PL and even with his 10% added value that will only get us to...

Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

I also have some reservations - not because I don't think Conte is an outstanding coach still in the peak of his managerial career - just that he isn't the right solution to the problem, or at least the size of the problem that we find ourselves in. Nominally Chelsea were the 10th best team in...

Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

Can extend that to domestic cups too....since 2018 we've had wobbles at lower league opponents - Newport (draw), Rochdale (draw), Colchester (lost on pens), Middlesbrough (draw). Prior to that we consistently swatted aside lower league opponents.

Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

I'm sure that Conte had done his due diligence but I do worry that the club push the 'real estate angle' a bit too much - constantly talking up the facilities at the training ground and stadium. As Poch famously said (and I paraphrase) its no point having the gorgeous mansion without having any...

Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

    # If you'll indulge me and look at the post in the match thread I'd suggest that crap performances in europa extend way beyond Mourinho. Ever since we first qualified for the CL in 2010 our attitude (as a club) to europa/europa conference has stunk of indifference and arrogance.

Just for further analysis...these are our away results in group stages from 2006 through until 2008/09 which is prior to our first CL qualification in 2010 (we did not qualify for europe at all in 2009/10) 2006: Besiktas 2-0 Leverkusen 1-0 2007/08: Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-0 Anderlecht 1-1 2008/09...
