    Rodrigo Bentancur

As Nathan Clark points out small sample size. Also a lot of differences from last season to this season. But still. Strengthens my view that this is Bentancur playing as instructed.

    Xavi Simons

Yeah. Until we're willing to actually play with some risk through the middle, play Bergvall/Gray in midfield as well as Simons for example, we may as well play Simons on the left. At least he'd get to get on the ball.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Haven't seen anyone suggesting anything else?
  4. B

    Rodrigo Bentancur

Yes and no imo. Maddison for example very rarely gives the ball away in that kind of situation while managing to be progressive. Kulusevski and Bergvall are higher risk. But all of them would benefit from having more progressive passing options.

    Rodrigo Bentancur

Bergvall was particularly good last season when playing a bit deeper, not as a 10. Gray barely played as a midfielder, but showed clearly what he can do on the ball in tight areas. Playing them in midfield over Palhinha, Bentancur or Sarr in the pivot would come at a risk. Bergvall showed that...

    Randal Kolo Muani

Some promising signs coming on against Monaco. If we can get him up and running and use him right he's a really good player that could be very useful for us. Hopefully more to come from him tomorrow.

Tyrese Hall - on loan at Notts County

Great to hear him doing well on loan. Seems to have real talent and potential.

    OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Monaco ** 22/10/25.

I sure hope this isn't the style he's going to double down on into the future. And that dynamic isn't just for what individuals do in wide areas. Fully agreed that it's way too early to conclude on anything and he needs time. But it's also on him to show what he can do to change and improve...

    Cristian Romero

Hope he's back very soon. Our best player and like last season a key player for us in terms of what he brings that others don't.

    Xavi Simons

Those things are only talking points until we actually see it in action I'm not doubting that those are principles he holds. But how are they weighted up against principles of being defensively solid etc.

    Xavi Simons

Simons and Bergvall when playing as the 10 mostly suffers from the same thing. We're not getting them involved. We're not finding them in pockets of space. The game mostly passes them by, not as a result of anything they're doing or not doing, but as a result of how we play.

***Tottenham Hotspur v Everton*** - OMT

Seems like it will be a really challenging game for us. They're quite good, we've been at best up and down. Assuming Romero is still out Porro is so important for us, only great passer in deep areas. He looked off it against Monaco on the ball and has played a lot recently, looks in need of a...

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Under Ange we played both fantastic football and really poor football. Last half a year in particular was mostly poor or not fantastic. A mix of bad and (mostly in the EL) something quite similar to what we're seeing this season. But at other times we did play fantastic football. We do have...

It's in part quality. Berg for Bodø Glimt Isn't overall a better player than Palhinha, Bentancur or Sarr. But at that aspect of the game he is a better player. Teams that want to play like that prioritise players with those qualities, at the cost of other qualities. For them obviously Berg is...

I hope you're wrong. But I definitely see your perspective as valid.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Agreed. I think it will be a challenging change to make. A significant part of our increased defensive solidity is built on not taking risks. Not playing through the centre, not pushing that many players forward a step. Hopefully this is step one, integrating a style that we can then continue...

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

What Solanke and Kulusevski would give us more than anything is better hold up play, target man type players. We're imo playing a style that requires that, without having those players in the front line. We're not even trying to play through the middle, particularly with Romero out. Only...

    OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Monaco ** 22/10/25.

Second best. Don't like this 4-3-3 pressing shape in this game. On the ball too sloppy. Some good attacking at times, but too often breaks down with one sloppy involvement. Tricky with this many players out, but need to up our game a bit in the second half.

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur FC v Aston Villa ***

He isn't a great passer (yet at least), but he is good at progressing the ball with those carriers and dribbles. He's also one to take up more ambitious positions to receive the ball in between the lines instead of just taking up safe positions to shuffle the ball on to someone else. Imo offers...

    Wilson Odobert

Think Odobert is looking better now. Taking players on, getting into shooting positions. Not super effective obviously, but imo looking rather good with rather limited service. But the player he is now, if we could set him up one vs one with some space around him with a good frequency I think...
