Europa League 2012-13 - QF: Basel (SUI)

Re: Europa League 2012-13 - Panathinaikos, Lazio, Maribor In Rome you mean? 5500 allocation - I reckon you'd have a reasonable shout of getting a ticket.

Now that you mention it - cheap. At twice the price.

Pfft. Call yourself a fan? Actually, I quite agree. I used to think Fulham were taking the tinkle at £50+, but as you say, for an early rounds Capital One game? Bit of a liberty.

    VW Scirocco - any good?

All the German manufacturers are. When I bought my S2000 the options were "What colour outside? What colour inside?". With my BMW, the array was bewildering. So I asked for one of everything!

Europa League 2012-13 - QF: Basel (SUI)

Re: europa trip to rome with the club ie 1 night trip This is true, but (and I could be letting the sands of time blur my memory), the LP requirement for the Thomas Cook trip (at least the ones that haven't been cancelled) has always been lower than the ticket only option direct with the club...

Europa League 2012-13 - QF: Basel (SUI)

Re: europa trip to rome with the club ie 1 night trip That always upsets me when (if) there's a certain number kept back for the Thomas Cook jobby and I know there's no way I'm going to get a ticket with my LPs given how small the allocation is. May just have to look into a day trip to Maribor...

    VW Scirocco - any good?

Absolutely outrageous price! When I consider the sticker price for my 320d Touring with basically every option under the sun was £5k more..... there's just no comparison. Clearly there is far better value to be had elsewhere.

Graz is about half the distance (yes, I did check for possible routings last week when the draw was made!), but probably a one-stop hop, whereas Zagreb you could go direct from London. Bit academic for me as the allocation will be so small so I don't think I'll get a ticket.

    VW Scirocco - any good?

I know what you mean about the looks of the BMWs. I actually think the equivalent C-Class is nicer looking. The interior... well, y'know what? I thought it was a bit... ummm... dull too. But, what I will say is that for driver focus, not a lot compares in class. Simple and very effective. If...

    VW Scirocco - any good?

I concur. Frankly, there is very little else - if anything - in the "sensible" bracket that's as pleasing to drive. I've now had a 320d Touring in Sport+ trim for over a year. It's bloody fantastic for what it is. And that coming from an S2000 being my daily driver. I test drove Audis, Mercs...

Royal Mail did - may still have? - a special on taking the full set. How sad am I to know that?!

    VW Scirocco - any good?

This is the biggest problem. If you expect to have people in the back or - worse - out kids in in a child seat, forget it! An ex-colleague has one. Looks lovely. Drives OK but nothing spectacular to set the heart racing.

Re: Capital One Cup 3rd Round Draw: Carlisle (A) Well, I won't be making the trip. With the slew of games around then, and Athens and Rome already booked up, something had to give..... and it was Carlisle away!

Re: Europa League 2012-13 - Panathinaikos, Lazio, Maribor Pretty good, but there were so few in town for that game it wasn't like a mass gathering in Milan! I agree Rome is likely to be more tasty, but we've always had this kind of doubt before - Besiktas was never thought of as an easy...

Re: Europa League 2012-13 - Panathinaikos, Lazio, Maribor No checks at any of the games I've been to - including Milan twice. They always get you to fill in that little sheet with your travel details and where you're staying when you apply, and warn you to bring photographic ID, but mine never...

Meh. Just realised how small Maribor's ground is. Can't see myself getting a ticket for that with a 650 or do allocation. Oh well, at least Athens and Rome won't present that challenge.
