I agree, but if you read this and the match thread some are actually saying they think Werner would have been a better option and I can only ask better option for what exactly? The problems we had were with midfield and the playing out of the back and into that midfield. Luis Figo, Bale and...

    Mikey Moore

On the topic of starting Moore I don't really see the issue. He was relatively speaking pretty decent, as I said earlier in this thread he would have been my man of the first half. I get that he didn't have a barnstormer, but people are talking as if the game would have caused him some harm...

Johnson rarely touches the ball and doesn't really get involved in the buildup especially not in an effective way. He has recently been scoring, but the rest of his game is still as troubling as ever for me. I would still want a better RWF to come in if we want to get to the next level.

I don't know if I buy the idea that we didn't work hard, that's not what I saw. Bissouma, Maddison, the various defenders etc, Solanke as well all ran around and put the yards in. All their running wasn't particularly effective because what I saw was a team that constantly tried to play the ball...

He's scored more than Solanke this season and 2 of them came whilst playing CF. Goal rates wise they aren't comparable and I like Solanke. I'm not dismissing him, I'm just concerned we create 0 for him. As I said create 0 for Son and he might still get a goal if playing what is now his preferred...

    Pedro Porro

Every game he's played at LB in recent years he's been absolutely terrorised. Trust me, we don't want him at LB right now. Maybe Spence should get the chance or even Region but Davies will get roasted.

Maybe I'm biased but I really didn't think he was bad. I'd say he was out best player in the first half (not a difficult feat to achieve of course). I wonder if the expectations are now too high so instead of seeing the positives he had we are looking at what he wasn't able to do?

Son plays the role differently and does score. Even if you dislike the way he plays the position he scores, more than Richy and so far more than Solanke too. Solanke IS better for the role overall, but he's not potent and capable of creating from nothing and we are creating nothing for him...

Fundamentally I don't believe it would have made a difference who we started outside today because the issue wasn't wastefulness or loss of the ball. Instead our overall issue was in midfield, so sure start even Richy and he can battle all he wants but Richy isn't a dribbler so sure he's gonna...

Moore or Werner? I would have gone for Moore today, and I would the next game also. Werner is one thing consistently and that is the word ineffective. I'm happy enough trying the unknown who may reward you with something over the known that you know will fail and Werner has failed, he failed...

    Pedro Porro

Davies will be worse. He's another player that can't play out wide anymore. He will get destroyed any average PL winger right now.

At least in the centre it occasionally works. On the left the man is finished. I'm also going to say I wouldn't be surprised to see Son gets games through the middle against at some point this season because Solanke as good as he's been in terms of holdup and link play he's not even getting...

    Pedro Porro

Johnson the guy directly in front of him rarely ever gets involved defensively. Porro mostly defends by himself or supported by Romero which often then means Romero has vacated the middle. I imagine Ange wants Johnson upfield to run rather than deeper, no real point playing to him if he's not...

    Pedro Porro

He was indeed a failed winger who moved backwards to play WB before Ange has started him at RB. His defensive performance have ebbed and flower, he awful under Conte and pretty decent last season. Even last season he's had some good and bad games purely in defensive terms.

No in 2024, he's definitely better in the centre than he is out wide. In the centre he scores and gets chances against the right kind of teams. Out on the left he looks like a pensioner and doesn't play well against ANYONE! (other than Trippier) :D

It's funny I told you this in the summer and last season but you wanted him on the left. ;)

Cann we make the top 4 or 5?

Top 5 potentially, but top 4 is a no for me. We are already behind the curve and are unable to get a consistency of results necessary (2 wins and a draw and out a block of 4 games) to achieve it. I'll take Top5 and I would love an actual run of consistent performances and results.

I also said this before, we other than Porro we aren't really crossing to anyone, we just hit the ball into some sort of vague general area and hope for the best. It's a brick tactic imo, I don't care what anyone thinks, it's not a title winning tactic, it's not even a cup winning one. For a...

No, we have to wait untill 10 games have been played before we can critique. Anything negative that happened last season doesn't count.
