    Daniel Levy - Chairman

Owners are long term positions and so the periods on which you judge them are longer by default. Unless you think it's realistic to be demanding new owners every time you have set back of a few seasons? (A set back which amounted to a season or two out of Europe?)

A couple *more* positions... We strengthened starting CF as you say and then went down the young with high ceiling route to add depth in 3 (?) other positions. Not every position we needed depth in was hit, but some/most(?) were. I think we missed out on Neto and the LB from the French...

Even more true these days with a really strong group of clubs, numbering close to 8 (?) compared to back then when there was a top 4 then a chasing pack

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

I think you can make bigger strides in weaker leagues with less than what is required to progress/do well in the strong leagues - let's say you're working in a 3 or 4 out of 10 standard league but are bringing 6 or 7 out of 10 ideas/tactics/methods/signings/whatever - you'll rip those leagues...

    Rodrigo Bentancur

I assume the extra game ban is tacked on because he argued his case rather than accepted punishment (which I believe is how it went down?)

You can't/won't be able to maintain CL football in this current PL climate without pushing to be strong enough to challenge for the title.

Brilliant - bet he's having a whale of a time out there

It's likely that he will leave soon so people are getting in early with their criticism

    1) every club says the same thing in this regard, going back over the last few seasons I think we compare favourable to most in this regard what happens is maybe a couple of deals cone later and then people react to this as though it's only us experiencing it - it's not. 2) I think if we went...

Going by your posts I'd imagine your idea of things not changing will mostly be centered around missing out on some targets/some deals coming in late/some gaps being left in the squad - this will never change, it happens to every club every window and will continue to do so as long as transfer...

I could do a similar appraisal for any transfer window for any club, very easy to point out what hasn't been done as there's always work left to do at the end of a window and teams/squads are never complete. We're 2 seasons in to the Lange & Co transfer department rebuild of the squad (rebuild...

I'd forgotten about Calafiori - is a player going to choose us over Arsenal at this juncture? I mean given a choice between going to Spurs, a EL club, to be a VdV back up or to go down the road and be a starting XI player for a club competing for the PL title?

BIG DECISIONS RE: PLAYERS - SOME SPECULATIVE FUN

Arsenal signed Rice after their first 2nd place finish when they had minimal gaps in the team that needed filling - prior to that they were not buying at that level and most likely they wouldn't have been able to either afford or tempt a player like Rice while they were not back in the CL and...

I don't think it's strange at all that we aren't buying competition for a starting GK position less than 18 months after buying a first choice GK

    Djed Spence

On Whoscored.com it is down as 30 league games as a RB, 13 as DM/CM and 4 as 'sub' - not sure that changes the point of my post but you're right he played some games in DM

I don't understand this last sentence - everything we do will be 'set out by conditions defined' by the owners/chairman, same as with every other club. Do you think transfer departments at other clubs act independently or something? Last 2 summer windows have seen us buy Maddison & Solanke - 2...

    Daniel Levy - Chairman

We don't know what Ange wanted as priorities - from what I can gather he's never played with a true DM, more so 2 no.8s in which case going in with Bent Biss Sarr and then additional depth of Bergvall & Gray isn't bad, it gives 3 players first XI experience ready and highly rated potentials...

Why was this summer 'that' summer? We're still in the building phase and the manager was on record last season saying multiple more windows were required.
