It’s also reality. He was only worth £60+ million in the imaginations of some of our supporters.

Said on here a few weeks ago that we’d get £30 - £40 million for him, because that’s where his flawed style of playing and his footballing character place his worth to other teams.

Not really. He’s already proven himself as a Premier League-level defender, played at a World Cup. Pretty hard to argue he’s not a quality defender.

Now he, like many others, might not live up to expectations at Spurs. But you can’t tell me he’s being written off as terrible like Romero is because of a lack of teams interested in him?

Anyone can move to our club and not walk the walk. Period.

Besides...My point was, use someone that has joined, been a success with us, but noone else was interested in when we signed them. Puts ones point on much more solid ground:)

Under Levy there wasn't the cash injection that there has been this year. He had to use only what we generated. None of us know how he would have acted with the extra cash, possibly the same, possibly more like what we've seen this summer, but they are two different scenarios.

He’s worth what the market will pay so fair enough. I do think Atletico have got a bargain, he’ll suit them perfectly.

From another English team!!! Did not see premiership teams jumping over each other to sign Romero or Spence; or we did not want to sell to them. Either way, knowing that we wanted rid of Romero (and apparently Spence) and to a contintental team, was the major factor

I guess we need to invite Beyonce for another concert to make up the shortfall....

Its a sad end to what was a hugely promising start, he is clearly a massively talented footballer and despite the weakly applied narratives about finishing 17th (like thats one players fault) or the price, the facts are he is going to one of Europe's super teams and will be playing CL football next season.

He goes with my wishes, he was clearly a massive part of the EL win, forever grateful for that

Sorry without meaning to sound confrontational but what do you mean? From my perspective, I have no ill will or animosity towards him and I hope he’s successful in Spain. I just think some players run their course at a club, he probably feels he’s outgrown us, whereas we need someone more reliable from a discipline POV and someone who doesn’t miss as many games due to injury and/or international commitments. The transfer just makes sense all round.

The constant 'scenario bashing' is laughable given the complete blindspot of running on different models.

Put it this way. My kitchen table economics is far different when I'm on £30k a year in comparison to £100k a year.
