Nobody was close to Ledley... period! And Vertoghen was much closer to King on that spectrum too

He was definately our best defender whenever he played.I love the 'new player bias'
Danso has probably exceeded all our expectations in ability and solidity since joining. You keep him solely for that reason. He's a proven player..
It's no more than hope at the moment, that the new guys perform similarly
Plus it keeps together at least one partnership that we know works.
We have two to sell anyway....let's just get on with that.
Well at the moment he is our best defender. Why he will be our 6th best CB.
Managers say a lot of things for a lot of reasons. I don't think he will be going either, and everyone sees the things he does well - he's quick and good dribbling with the ball. But defensively he fudges up a lot, sometimes his speed makes up for it other times not but his defensive intelligence is not particularly good. That can improve of course, he is still relatively young....
The homegrown part could be an issue in regards to loaning him out, but I don't know the ins and outs of the rules well enough TBF. He would get game time for us next season too, but not as much as he would being loaned out. Guess it depends how he does in pre season and how impressed our coaching staff are.Agree re: Vuskovic, I would be looking for a very competitive loan for him personally, just to develop for one more season. I hate having to sell Romero and think that yes, you're right, he is absolutely a marked man in the Prem meaning it is over for him here in all reality...

Agreed on Romero, I think he's absolute quality, but I also have doubts about his motivation and reliability. Which probably makes it a good time to move him on.

He has to play for us (or be on domestic loan) for 3 seasons before/including the season he turns 21.
"An "association-trained player" is a player who, between the ages of 15 (or the start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which the player turns 21), and irrespective of the player's nationality and age, has been registered with a club or with other clubs affiliated to the same association as that of the player's current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons."
He has no spare seasons left to not be in England.
Maybe its why the Barca/Madrid/Bayern interest is showing now, as he could still be HG for them too if he moves this summer?

Brighton? What’s a better loan than staying at Spurs and leaving under RDZ for a year if he were to play half the games?
Brighton?
Using that logic Tel is about to become Gareth Bale and Solanke is about the same as HaalandIt’s not bias. You can see how the market values them and he is 6th.

But needs a large enough squad to compete domestically and in Europe, while having an excellent track record of developing young players and playing good, possession-based football. He’s going to go to a club that finished 10 places ahead of us in the table and we will be competing with for a European place?

He’d be out of the spotlight down there a lot more than in London too, where he could maybe just keep learning his craft without many of the distractions.
If you want to evaluate on one metric, rightio. And transfermarket also being that one metric....I'm beginning to see nowIt’s not bias. You can see how the market values them and he is 6th.
Have you met Spurs? The club cannot be in a situation where a club like Brighton has finished above us and Vuskovic has a similar year to what he did at Hamburg
Have you met Spurs?
Liverpool sort of did it once. There was one season a decade back where Sakho was their outstanding defender one season, but he was at Palace
