J P van Hecke

No chance JPVH goes for that with only one year left on his contract, especially if Guehi went for 25 mil.

By contrast, Romero has at least 3 years left, is in the prime of his career, is a WC winner and has a much higher profile.

We got Biss from them for 25M with a year left

I suspect 25M-30M is the range, they know it too, the feedback via press has been kind

What on earth are you talking about, he is our best defender as it is. Romero is leaving, VDV is not a very good defender and the rest are worse. Danso is our best and most reliable defender....

6th most valuable according to Transfermarkt if you add in Sensesi & JPVH.

RDZ called VDV the best centre half in the league. No way he's letting him go.

Personally, I think a lot of Spurs fans have stopped seeing all the great things he does in our shirt. I reckon he'll be rock solid under RDZ and is going nowhere. I want him to sign a new contract.

Managers say a lot of things for a lot of reasons. I don't think he will be going either, and everyone sees the things he does well - he's quick and good dribbling with the ball. But defensively he fudges up a lot, sometimes his speed makes up for it other times not but his defensive intelligence is not particularly good. That can improve of course, he is still relatively young....

Depends what Danso wants I imagine. He'd not be short of suitors in the PL. But I'd rather keep him. Some of you forget our luck with injuries.

VdV, Senesi, Van Hecke, Danso, with Dragusin and Romero going to fresh pastures would appear to be the action being taken here...
Sounds very sensible to me. Romero is a marked man in the PL, which makes him an even bigger liability than he is on his own. Plus we could get decent money for him. Dragusin is not good enough or suitable for PL football, IMO. Danso is reliable and a good second choice CB, and seems content with primarilt being a back up - although knowing our injuries he'll probably get plenty game time.

Vuskovic is the dark horse. An immensly talented kid, but with no PL experience we can't count on him immediately stepping up - despite what he did in Germany. The PL is a whole different level.

Agree re: Vuskovic, I would be looking for a very competitive loan for him personally, just to develop for one more season. I hate having to sell Romero and think that yes, you're right, he is absolutely a marked man in the Prem meaning it is over for him here in all reality...

We would be mad to sell Danso.

Why he will be our 6th best CB.
I love the 'new player bias'

Danso has probably exceeded all our expectations in ability and solidity since joining. You keep him solely for that reason. He's a proven player..

It's no more than hope at the moment, that the new guys perform similarly

Plus it keeps together at least one partnership that we know works.

We have two to sell anyway....let's just get on with that.

When you compare him to prime Ledley King, you realise how far he is from a world class defender. Ledley used to cover for his mistakes with his pace when he first broke into the team, but VdV will never have his strength and he's nowhere near his concentration and positioning level at the moment.

Was such a honour watching Ledley 'live' at the stadium. Different level of appreciation.

Haven't you realised... the estimate of a defender is not how good he is at his day job - defending - but the flashy secondary stuff....

And Vertoghen was much closer to King on that spectrum too
