Pedro Porro

I am on the fence with Porro, 50 million is a decent chunk of money for a player that can't really defend consistently well, however it would be weakening our first team and who do you get in to replace him that is as good/better?

If that player was out there, wouldnt City be after them?
Erm...Spence.

He's better defensively, significantly so. Offensively I agree but the gap isn't as big as the defensive gap imo.
Think Porro showed in RDZs games he can defend when needed, He is never going to be a great defender, but I think under a proper manager with standards he might switch back on.

I am torn on selling him, as 50 million is a lot for a player with 2 years left, but we have to replace him properly.

Whatever your opinion on Porro vs Spence, he is good enough to start for a top-half PL team.

Ask Tuchel, who chose him over TAA
Tuchel just doesn't like Trent, Gibbs-White should be ahead of a load of players in that England squad - it doesn't really prove much.

If you offered every manager Spence or Trent I'm pretty sure the majority will be taking Trent....

It proves that a proven manager of a top-international team feels confident in playing him at the WC. That in itself tells me that he is very capable of performing for a PL club with CL ambitions.

Spence is absolutely talented enough to be our starting RB if Porro were to leave.

I like Spence but don't agree and in regards to Tuchel, he isn't being picked to start games and will do well to get many minutes at all so it doesn't tell you anything about capabilities of playing week in and week out in the PL which is a completely different pace and intensity.

I think like a lot of players who can look good filling in games here and there, he would struggle for consistency if being asked to do it every week. Hence why four different managers have all played Porro week in week out, there's a reason why Spence has never got a look in that position. Unless you know something they all don't....

How many games has Spence played poorly in this year, including those (aka nearly all) when he has been played out of position?

He’s an excellent one-on-one defender. He is strong, fast and skillful in possession. What is there not to like about him?

Again, this isn’t a Porro vs Spence argument. It’s that Spence is very capable of being our starting RB if Porro were to leave.
