I'm talking about the criticism of Lange and Vinai. For me the Lewis' are ethe same as they have always been until the prove otherwise.

I don't think there's a demand for perfection, there's a pretty big gap between that and being where we are. They need to ride out the ill feeling and prove they know what they are doing. As I said they are the ones who made the change when they did, having conducted a review - the fruits of which (and subsequent decisions appointing Vinai, promoting Lange, losing Paratici, appointing Frank then Tudor then RDZ) almost resulted in relegation - yes Levy shares in that blame but plenty of their decisions had a more direct impact imv

Where we differ is that I see this season as a culmination of season after season of poor decision making. Yes they aren't blameless for how it went but they were just the proverbial nail in the coffin rather (I'm mostly referring to Lange and Vinai) than the coffin makers themselves.

On the wage structure, was Simons not brought in on higher wages than most other previous signings? It certainly felt like we were moving with more intent last summer, trying to do things earlier and playing in a field with clubs we usually didn’t want to go head to head with.

Wages (are) currently irrelevant, red herring brick. We have no elite/WC players that should be earning more than 200-250K/week, proven out by their performances. Add in the number of under 25 players and that's the story.

There will be very few players that deserve more than our previous (since it's supposedly gone) cap that we can attract (if they deserve that money they will likely have bigger clubs in for them). We didn't lose out on any players due to wages in last few seasons.

If in the future we have another Kane/Son scenario or a special player that actually wants to come, it will get tested. The only real thing the total wages bill highlights now is my first point, we don't have enough quality in squad (the actual problem) to justify a higher wage bill.

I suggest you look at United, Chelsea and Private Equity in general.

The goal of American PE ownership in business is not for the business to be successful product wise or to make money (yes, I know it makes no sense initially).

They will purchase something with leveraged capital, they will cut costs/asset strip over time (make product significantly worse), they will pay themselves huge management/consultant/administrative fees (this is how they make money) over a long period of time, then eventually the business will collapse (PE has 10X the bankruptcy rate of a normal LLC/LTD) and they will declare bankruptcy/administration and they walk away and do it again somewhere else. If you want a proven example look at the story of Toys R Us.

They need to stay to fudge away from us.

The cap has always been a percentage. It has always been approx 42-44% of turnover. Adebayor was on £200k a season during his loan year IIRC, so it never been about individual salaries. With Kane, Son and Lloris all going in quite quick succession, we cleared out our highest earners. So we should have quite a lot of leeway even under the existing cap

ENIC are on thin ice and this summer will be the litmus test of all their blathering. Suffice to say, I'm not optimistic.

Wasn't Lange appointed when Levy was still the chief exec? Also what do you think is bad about Vinai? I find it strange that you think you can judge a CEO after he has had control for only around 6 months. Let's give him at least a couple of years before we decide on him..... after all - we gave Levy a quarter of a century.

Which is why they have appointed a very good CEO with good experience at a club who are bigger than we are.

Lange joined the club under Levy. Vinai promoted him to his current role after Levy left.

I don't tend to judge the capability of people by how they look. I suggest you try to do the same as you'll be ruling out lots of people for some silly inherent bias.

I also suggest that you give CEO's a bit more time than 6 months before you judge how they can turn around a failing business (or sports club in this example).
