Mathys Tel

Spence better than Tel? Come on!!!
tel loses the ball often through a combination of poor decision making and awareness. he is just too raw and has a bright future, but not just now - not for 90 minutes. he is too easy to defend against, is rather predictable and there is no fear marking him and turning possession over.

spence is better at ball retention and keeping his space and physically battling 1 on 1. Spence on then Tel to me would be a way to give the opposition some trouble and then a fresh tel against tired legs may help him get the edge.

Of our forward line (and as low bar as it may be with who is available right now), Tel is the least of our problems. If Spence should be coming in for anyone it should be Muani....

If only we still had a world class finisher for Tel to learn from at the training ground on a daily basis (like how Defoe said he got pointers from Ian Wright when they were together at West Ham) to accelerate his development and ensure that Mathys reaches his full potential.

again where our team planning went wrong - we had son for years and needed and understudy - not werner

did well today but still too many mistakes like not passing to an available teammate or running into blind alleys.
much to learn and could do with a proper experienced mentor to learn from - not odobert

Looked a bit more the part in 1st half when he went after his man, little disappointed he didn't try to take advantage once the Everton player was on early yellow. General progress under RDZ but probably shouldn't be a starter yet for us.

Jesus the kid has just turned 21 and still learning about the pressure of playing in the Premership, i can not understand why some of our fans are suggesting he may not be up to it. Is he the finished articule of course not but he has shown he has the abilty to be a very good player.

Of course he is not the finished articule but he has shown IMO the the potential to be a regular player going forward is there.

Yeh I was harsh on him but have liked what I have seen recently now he is playing more. At 21 looks good prospect but no way starting LW next season IMO, doesnt mean I dont think he can kick on and become a very good Spurs player.

Def a handy alternative next season

Said it in the squad thread, a Perisic type on that side to rotate with Tel would be interesting.

As you say time will tell but players who like to run at players with the ball are not really around at the moment. He likes to run at opposing players and has the ability to do so. Early days of course but players like him are rare imo in todays game. [ mores the pity]. Look forward to seeing him progress nest season.

Hence why they make mistakes, but you dont try things you dont make magic either. Its par for those types of players

Don't agree with that, Tel has a lot of potential and with good coaching and more experience in the Premiership will become a very good player IMO.

I really don't see it with him at all. But regardless he's not good enough to start as first choice as things stand, he needs to develop as an understudy for a player who is
