James Maddison

i don't think i have been harsh on maddison - if we had a full team - kulu, bentancur and kudus, i think we would be top 6-8 and fighting for a european qualification
Well i said this when i was criticising Frank. I said while i stand by everything i said about the limitations of Frank's approach, there's also no doubt in my head that you take the equivalent of Kulusevski, Kudus, Maddison, Odobert, Solanke, Bentancur, Bergvall, Udogie and Porro out of any team for significant periods of a season and you are down 10-15 points and a raft of league placements.

Even with the complete circus act in terms of club management this season, without these injuries we would be comfortably midtable.

It's all gone a bit quiet again since that teaser we had the other week from Tudor about his progress.
i believe he's come back ahead of time but i have not expected him to feature this season, especially now when so much is at stake.
maybe when we are mathematically safe we could

Yeah, I'd missed the post saying he was back in training. That's hopeful news, but it's obviously one thing for him to be back training with the squad and something else again for him to regain enough fitness to be ready to make a contribution in a competitive game. I note that he didn't seem to be over-involved in the ball-work they were doing in the most recent training video. Still, we have to take whatever positives we can at this stage, I guess.

that said doing rondos - where there is a lot of short sharp movements, turning and twisting - shows how well maddison has come along in his recovery. a rare win for our medical staff and hopefully his cheerfulness will add something to the training and somewhat fill a son-shaped hole
