Transfer thread

City just got Guehi & Semenyo, we have done Bentancur & Dek, Porro, Dragusin, Kinsky in previous January windows. We needed 2 players that walk into first team, likely in attacking positions and midfield.

100% but Gallagher isn't "backing" him, it's a low risk, opportunistic signing.

There are players out there, Juve want RKM and they have David & Vlahovic (even if GB doesn't rate), Neves is supposedly still available. Personally for me backing the manager would have been (early in Jan), something like agreeing a RKM swap +cash for Vlahovic, sell Richi to Everton buy Ndiaye (same swap +cash) buy Neves, sell Kinsky, loan Tel (manager seems to rate neither), buy a GK with view to sell Vic in summer.

All of that could be less than 70M total, and we could argue about if this player or that, but it shows a possibility. Instead we hijacked someone else's transfer when injuries forced our hand and bought a youth prospect that is unlikely to see game time ..

Vlahovic is out injured for 4 months (as well as being crap)

Seeing West Ham sign Traore has me worried that we will sign Sterling on loan late on deadline day

If, we did and there hasn't been a link or anything, that would be me done for the season, I would not go to another game

We're so depleted on deadwood at the moment though, we do really need someone like Sterling.

There's lots of players that would make sense on paper - doesn't mean any specific one is a player we are targeting though
People on here go on about a million players who are apparently perfect for us yet the many go on to do little. Still waiting for Daka to look like that perfect striker we should have signed instead of Leicester....

Why do I feel that the whole season rides on tomorrow night and certain progression to the next round of the CL.
Win and signings will happen, lose and Frank is gone.
I think there’s something in this, not directly us, but teams in Europe finding out their fate this week could set off a late domino effect on transfers.

Seem to recall it playing out like that last season too - though I suppose in general the end of transfer windows are when you tend to see most deals anyway

I think Ndiaye is probably the only proper difference maker there is any chance of. And even there we'd have to pay well over the odds (maybe £75m) and beat off interest from United and Liverpool. He would be perfect though with his versatility across the three AM roles.
