Absolutely.
He's managed fudge all with complete air supremacy at all stages and no long range ordinance for his enemy. Imagine how badly it would go for him with Moscow getting obliterated around him.

The point about the locations, within Europe, of American nukes is a fair one if asking 'why' Russia are expanding it's nuclear sites outwards towards Europe.
The problem with that equation (from our POV) is what side is America on?
