Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Thanks for proving my point. 1 year when we finished 5th, above expectations. And the 2nd year when we won a European trophy. And yet still he was sacked.

The last 6 months in the league were rubbish, and fans like you could barely fudging get through it. 6 months!

that wasn't above expectations, we were top after 10 games

no other team has ever failed to qualify for the CL after a start like that

season 1 ended in disaster, season 2 was even worse

Most importantly, the league is tight.
Win Vs Everton, might be 2nd.
Lose, Everton move from 14th to level on points with us.
Oh, and Sunderland are currently 2nd!

I don't think this season will properly take shape until Xmas time.

My thoughts as well, we have some fans foaming at the mouth about our form after 3 months. Its going to take far longer then that before we see any REAL progress. New manager and a bunch of new players plus some injurys to important players.

There’s one position that’s taking shape that is already bothering me somewhat.

I need someone to tell me how they’re not going to win the league.

When people say Ange’s first season ended in disaster I’m just begging them to actually look at our results over the course of that season. Anyone would think we went from title contention to relegation form. But it’s just not the case. Yes, we dropped off after a crazy good start, but we had plenty of good performances and results throughout the rest of that season.

If you look from game 11 of the first season to the end of Ange’s second season then it was relegation form. And he continued that with Forest.

Going by @carl ’s post above, 1.57 ppg for the last 19 games of his first season, would average out to 59 points over a full league campaign. I’ve never understood the idea that we descended into relegation form. We simply didn’t maintain a crazy good start, and decided to roll about ten dice at once in the Chelsea game at home, none of which came off, and which we suffered the consequences of in terms of suspensions for a few games following.

The second season from November onwards was its own unique thing in terms of injuries and schedule, and still ending with a trophy. But I’m talking specifically about the first season which seems to have become accepted wisdom that we would have been relegated but for the first ten games. It’s just not the case.

If you look at the points total from the Chelsea game onwards then it was relegation form over the two seasons. Not the first but when you combine them, it was shocking form.

The injuries were partly caused by Ange and his system and the lack of rotation. Of course there’s always some luck to injuries but there followed him his career.

I don’t think we were ever going to maintain that incredible start. The Chelsea game was a sliding doors moment and who knows what we could have achieved if not for those injuries and suspensions and momentum is a hard thing to stop, just ask Leicester. But let’s not forget Villa who pipped us to 4th spot were on a great run themselves, they were actually top around November/December from memory. We also had a dilemma of beating city to help Arsenal win the league or lose the game and miss out on the top 4. Im still glad we lost that game against city. We wouldn’t have won the Europa League if not for that.

Completely agree on the whole that Ange needed to go.

At what point did you want Ange gone then?

Dunno exactly, i was supportive going in to the second season, but that's not the point re the last post.

Last season started badly, got worse and ended as the worst league performance in our clubs history, and followed a poor second half to the previous season where we lost more games than we won including 5 of the last 7.

So it wasn't a poor final 6 months, it was 18 months (1.5 seasons) of steadily declining results & performances - anyone becoming Ange out around the new year had already shown 12 months +/- of patience.

Frank is really handicapped by the still very poor squad he has to choose from.
This is Levys legacy. Went all in on hopeful punts on young players, and overpaid for some right crap.
No decent striker, only 1 winger who gets doubled up on every game now, and a terrible midfield. If Simons and Bergvall were on form then we would improve a lot.
At the moment though we can barely string 2 passes together.
Defense splitting passes are extremely rare. He really needs Kulu and Madds available, but thats a long way off.

Why have you decided I’m angry? Because I use some naughty words? Does “fudge” offend you that much?

That along with calling other posters clams because they have different views to you.

Bit hypocritical as you were getting your knickers in a twist if someone mentioned anges weight
