And he hasn't been particularly successful or impressive in those 3 jobs. Arguing that Poch might need to freshen up the ideas surrounding him is not controversial at all.

Regarding Ange I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with his approach, but he is relying on his new staff being able to first comprehend his approach fully and to then successfully implement it down chain. If you're fortunate enough to hire the right staff it probably works really well, but if the hires don't quite fit then you're at a massive deficit.

I think you're at a deficit anyway. You now need time to educate your staff, them to get it, and then execute it how you want.

That's time that could be better spent elsewhere. If you're not a hands on training ground manager, you should at least have a first team coach that has been indoctrinated.

Yep, and the first game in pre-season already showed signs of coaching, in the block, in set pieces, in the counter press, not perfect but clearly in a very short space of time, players have started to understand.
 
Feels like a very good coaching team already.

Frank revealed that his assistant Justin Cochrane and Spurs’ individual development coach Cameron Campbell have been working closely with Tel to make him more effective in front of goal.

“And also I think a big praise to Cameron and Justin to work with Mathys,” Frank said.
“And the way we worked with him from a fine game against West Ham as a striker to a better game against Doncaster, where he arrives more in the right areas. I know he could have scored two goals but as I say he arrives there, because we trained and we showed clips.

DAN LEWINDON has joined City Football Group in the new role of Director of Player Health and Performance.

Lewindon arrives from the LTA, where he was Head of High Performance Science and Medicine for six years. It was here that he worked alongside City’s current Performance Director Simon Timson, who held the same role with the LTA from 2016 to 2020.

Director of Health and Performance is a common job title in US sport, but not in the UK. The choice of the new title and role at City is recognition of the fact that a player’s fitness is about much more than what they do during their time at their club.

It is about what they do outside of football too, including their sleep, nutrition and mental well being, and Lewindon took this holistic ‘whole person’ approach during his time with the LTA.

After qualifying as a physiotherapist from Nottingham University, he worked for several years in the NHS before joining Northampton Saints rugby team as Lead Physio.

In 2009 he was appointed Senior Physio for England Rugby, working for seven years and taking responsibility for the side’s recovery, prevention and rehab strategies, before his move to the LTA and now City Football Group, where he will work across their network of global clubs.
