*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Doncaster Rovers - Carabao Cup ***

I don`t usually get too stoked up about the early rounds of the Carabao cup but I am absolutely buzzing so this game. Why is that you may ask. I will tell you why, it is my grandkids first game. My son decided it would be a good first game as 1- tickets are cheap and easy to get and 2 - hopefully it will be an entertaining game. He has also arranged for a message to them to be displayed on the LED screen around the ground. So the fourth generation from my family to support the mighty Spurs. I only manage to get to around 10 or 12 games each season now but really can`t wait for this one. Also my son has become a bit of a good luck charm of all the games he has been to in the last few years the only time he has seen us lose is last years NLD and he blames me for that as I went with him. So I am betting on a clean sheet and a few goals scored(for us)

It's a good shout on Scarlett. He must feel a little out in the cold this season.
Scarlett is only still here because he couldnt secure a Championship or League 1 move. No way he should be anywhere close to starting ahead of Tel (who has shown he can do an EPL shift)

Any of the youngsters likely to take the bench I wonder? I guess most of the advanced ones are out on loan

Olusesi played in Europe for us last year.

Byfield has made the bench before, or if not the traveling squad. 16 year old CB

Williams-Barnett is the one that is catching the eye. 16 year old attacking midfielder. Already has 5 goals and 3 assists in 5 games for the U21's

------------------------Kinsky------------------
Spence-----Danso----Davies---Udogie
--------Bergvall----Sarr-------Gray----------
Johnson---------Muani--------Tel-------

Not keen on so many changes but it's a favourable home tie, players who haven't played much need to and we've got another 2 important games coming up.

The U21s are playing tonight against Plymouth in the EFL Trophy so should be able to work out from that if anyone of the youngsters will be involved. Might be better to play 90 in that then a few minutes against Doncaster.

Something like that is what I would like too. Though I would kinda like to see Odobert start too. But unless Frank sees him as an option as a 10 probably Tel, Muani and Johnson are even more in need of game time.

Agree with "not keen on so many changes" too, and wouldn't be shocked or critical if Frank goes for fewer changes than that. But this is a rare opportunity to give some players a breather and I wouldn't be too keen on over playing them or resting them in the upcoming games either.

Wouldn't be surprised if the game ends up somewhat scrappy if we make this many changes, but we should still have the quality to make the difference.

Hoping for a Biss redemption arc starting with this. If he ahs sorted his discipline issues out there is a monster of a player in there.

His future is in his hands, he's the only person who can make it happen. Does he want to be the best he can be or is he in it for the money and lifestyle?

Looks like we are allowing Ajayi to play against us. Makes sense we sent him on loan to get experience, playing against a premier league team in the cup will definitely do that.

Muani and Davies both out for that game. Likely to see some youngsters on the bench but will put out a strong team.

If you want to read it in order go from the bottom to the top.

Team news for Carabao Cup ⤵️

2.11pm

Thomas on the approach in domestic cup competitions

"It's a balance. I would like us to compete in all four tournaments across the year. If you're going to do that, you need to pick the right team all the time. I think every time we put a team out there it is super strong. We need to hit that perfect number of players that rotate and a strong team. It will be a strong team tomorrow."

2.10pm

On Mathys Tel's attacking role

"He plays his games for France Under-21s down the middle but he can also play down the left. Maybe it is his best position, but I don't like to say."

2.09pm

Thomas on opportunities for Academy players to feature

"It'll be a great opportunity to have some young players on the bench. It's always special to give a youngster the debut. It could be a good opportunity."

2.08pm

On learning from previous Carabao Cup campaigns

"It definitely taught me everything is possible. We went in very focussed and very aware of what could happen. Gillingham, we put a very strong team out there. Football, anything can happen. It is a low scoring game. Doncaster are doing well in League One. We need to be on it."

2.07pm

Thomas on set piece preparation

"We have specific principles and routines. It is good to have principles in place and then tweak that to the opponent."

2.06pm

On Deki's return date

"A good chance to see Kulusevski in action before the end of the year."

2.06pm

On the decision to allow Doncaster's Damola Ajayi to play against parent club

"We decided to loan him out because it is good for his development. We weren't that lucky to face one of our own players. It is a great opportunity for him."

2.05pm

Thomas on Antonin Kinsky

"The easy thing for Antonin would have been to stay with his former Club. Now he has a big stage in front of him and a great future ahead."

2.04pm

On Solanke and Takai

"They are progressing. They both trained with the team today."

2.04pm

Thomas has ruled both Kolo Muani and Ben Davies out

2.03pm

On Carabao Cup run

"We need to take one game at a time. It's about winning the next one. There is no reason to speak about what may happen in the future."

2.02pm

Thomas on approach for Doncaster in Carabao Cup

"We're really looking forward to it. We'll do everything we can to win it. Naturally there will be a little bit of rotation. They have Grant McCann who I know very well. I faced him in the Championship. We need to play at our highest level and get into the next round."

2.01pm

On Dejan Kulusevski's recovery

"Of course Kulusevski is a top player. Instead of putting an exact month, I just want him back as soon as possible. It's not tomorrow but hopefully it's not too far away."

2pm

Thomas starts off with a team news update

"It looks... good. Everyone available last time is available again."
