Levy stepping down rumour

Don't leave, Dan - whatever would I do with my time? :p

In all seriousness, I doubt it, unless there's an ownership change. For no other reason than the Lewis family trust would probably prefer having someone close to the Lewises in charge, and Ventakesham is not that man.

If there is an ownership change, though...
They have just won a trophy and he's taken some serious personal abuse this season. I wouldn't be surprised by his stepping down.

I would mate, because Tottenham is all he has. He's not like other chairmen in the league, who are either a) hired hands by the real owners, and so replaceable at will, or b) people like Todd Boehly, who have interests and a public profile outside football.

Levy has spent close to 30 years here, and has basically nothing to occupy him outside of Spurs. His Mr. Byrite discount clothing brand shut down long ago, ENIC divested their stakes in Rangers, Sparta Prague, etc. long ago.

He's spent half his life at this club, while being its part-owner, chairman and unquestioned authority on everything that goes on, from the color of the fire extinguishers up to the future of the club itself. Leaving Spurs would mean obscurity, if wealthy obscurity.

Men like that don't let go easily.

Some terrible assumptions in there.

He is 63 ...so could happily be on the wind down to retirement.

It's all assumptions for sure. But that's also assuming this post is true to begin with, which I highly doubt.

Though, I will point out that 63 really isn't old these days - Jim Ratcliffe is 72 and only just took over as United owner. Stan Kroenke is 77. John Henry at Liverpool is 75.

Levy's solidly middle of the road in terms of chairman/owners (or part owners) in the Premier League.

His age may not be the issue it might be the level of vitriol he's experienced this year.

Cullen and co leaving as well would be a complete changing of the guard.

I'm doubtful it's true as it's silly season (we will be linked to Damiao shortly I'm sure) but there's clearly change afoot - mason, Cullen, and changes in the youth setup too.

In fairness we don't know do we. Could be money moving ahead of a change of ownership and this is the start of it. Levy has been shopping for investment for a while and admitted that if it were in the interest of the club rondo so he would step down as part of the process.

It's been ridiculous this season. We even get a cup, finally, and he's only met with boos. He has done a tremendous job for our club, in my opinion. Compare where we are now to when he took over - one of the richest clubs in the world, the best stadium in the world, the best training facilities in the world - we're setup to be a juggernaut for years to come. All thanks to Levy. I'll take my hat off for him if he leaves. Got nothing but respect for what he has done for us. That said, it's probably time he left the job to someone else.

Who could do the job as well as him?

That’s going to be a very very short list.

Has our value potential for new owners ever been higher than now?

Our wage-to-revenue bill was under 40% last season, and that was with the likes of Ndombele still on his last year of wages here. That's by far (and very, very far), the lowest in the league.

This year's accounts would probably have it even lower. Add to that the bolstered revenue from the EL run (which should cancel out the loss in earnings from the lower league position), and associated bump in sponsorships, plus CL revenue next season and the 200m headroom we have in PSR.

There's a tremendous amount of room here for an ambitious owner to come in and build a superclub. There's also plenty of room for a status-quo owner to come in and enjoy a slowly appreciating asset, while also getting all the other benefits of owning a large club in London (access to British policymakers and the London real estate market, among others).

Safe to say we're not short on buyers, and will never be. Question is only if ENIC want to sell, and that has been the hurdle others have failed at in the past - from Abramovich, to Boehly, to Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.

True. But there's also been pretty solid reporting that he wants to stay on even in the event of an ownership change, which doesn't indicate a man willing to let go.

We'll see when it happens for sure.
