Son Heung-Min

fudging love the bloke. Absolutely love him. He represents me as a Spurs fan in just the best possible way.

Looking forward to the next post about him not being captain material.

It’s interesting the captain discussion and the credentials etc.

Not many factored in just how much every single player wanted to win that trophy not just for themselves but for Sonny - as so many of them have mentioned in social media posts and interviews since.

There’s more than one way to inspire people.

Couldn’t have said it any better.

More PL goals than Pires and Ljungberg combined in way less matches. Interesting when you see how venerated those two were and are.
It's the same old thing of their goals mattering because they led to something tangible. Until now Son hadn't won anything so despite scoring more his goals are really associated with any specific moments or achievements.

It's why it is important to win trophies to give your achievements weight. Happily Son now has that with us and can safely attain legend status for us. He's the world class or close to World class player that actually stayed here despite all the pressure to leave for greener pastures and stuck his neck out to actually win here.

Quite poetic that it has come towards the end of his effective playing career with us. I hope the win eases any pressure he might have felt to finally get one over the line

Anyone think Sonny might decide to leave on a high this summer? He’s just lost so much pace, it’s almost sad to see.

He's been playing whilst slightly injured a lot of the time, so it is hard to assess his pace. He still has moments where he looks fast.

Probably true of every player. They have a choice to either play whilst slightly injured, or sit it out. They put their body and reputation on the line, to play in the match, then we criticise them, whilst their team mates might sit it out.

Perfect time to say goodbye. He's on the decline, and he's just lifted our first European trophy for years.

Cemented his status as a legend at the club, regardless of when he leaves....

I'm on the fence.

When Sonny was used the right way, he looked like he could still contribute a great deal. That for me is perhaps starting one match a week and finishing the other from the bench. He should be playing in the region of 90-120 mins in my mind. Workload management will be key for managing his future wherever he plays next season.

The other perspective is that Sonny is an Asian revenue generating machine. It's a chalk and cheese scenario to the Kane situation we found ourselves in. Sonny isn't worth the transfer value that Kane is. Kane wouldn't be filling as many match day seats and selling as many shirts as Sonny.

Only Saudi could change that dynamic. If they went big on an offer, it's perhaps the only one we need to take.

He deserves to play at a higher level than Saudi Arabia. Besides, not all multi millionaire footballers feel they need to go and earn the petrol dollar
