Pedro Porro

Thought he'd have more goals this season. Not a criticism. Just thought he'd get more. Butvthen wasn't expecting us to go to crap in the league.

He absolutely has the potential, but I think it's combination of team form and tactics

- Johnson takes the tap in, follow into box role on that side, reduces opps for Porro to basically the guy who hits screamers from outside the box on right.

There would be an argument to replace Johnson with a more versatile player and have Porro take up more of that follow into box from the right role, you would also need to give him more cover when he's high up. Again, it says someone probably could get more out of him with a 3atb system.

Not saying he couldn't, but I don't think it's as simple as some make out. The position he would get the ball would be more advanced and he'll have to run with it from a static position I don't think that's his strength and he doesn't beat a man.

When he receives the ball from deep he has more space to run into, and can play those long balls over the top which he wouldn't do from further up. Just like the suggestion of Romero as DM, they sound great in theory but in practice it's not as simple....

It works, Johnson doesn’t start anywhere near deep enough for me.

Could be two birds with one stone, makes the defence better, and a more effective crosser when he does get forward.

Oh GHod, now you've jinxed him
No it was not a prediction. It was a fact.

Like he has never scored a goal for us in a final.
He has never lifted a trophy for us.
He has never won man of the match in a final.
He has never never kicked Bruno Fernandez in the nuts.

So facts 1, 2 and 3 what we would all like to happen, obviously. But if he can also achieve #4, that would be the icing on the cake (or the consolation if 1, 2 and 3 don't come to pass). Or just go straight to #4.

Spot on. It’s a very different game playing in midfield when you have to take the ball with your back to goal a lot or on the half turn. In defence, generally, the whole game is in front of you.

Not saying Porro couldn’t do it, I don’t know, but it’s far from certain.

He played there when he was younger briefly and wasn’t good enough then (I assume)
It’s like fans wanting Romero as DM
The managers know best
