unfortunately we'll see in a few months just how far this joker has set us back.

the repercussions of this horrendous appointment could be huge.

I hate to think how many of our players may want to leave in the summer. There’s been talk of Romero leaving, but it wouldn’t shock me if there were others. Why would any player want to commit their future to a club like our’s at this present moment in time?

This is the point that I'm dreading as well. Thankfully, a lot of our players are on long contracts, but you know their agents will be advertising and vultures circling.

Look, in terms of the "club-wide" issue, it boils down to the fact that financially we bobble around 5th-6th place in terms of power and fundamentally that means we will bobble around 5th - 6th place in the league and maybe have a decent shot of a trophy every 5 to 6 years. We've punched above our weight league wise a few seasons and we've had our chances in cups over the years too. We've won a single league cup under the current ownership but lost several finals and semi finals.

The current ownership period has seen English football dominated by Fergie's Utd and Wenger's Arsenal, then Abramovich's Chelsea and finally Emirates Marketing Project and Klopp's Liverpool. Trophies have generally been horded by those clubs with only the odd alternative winner. We are basically the next club down from those, top of "tier 2". In that context, there isn't really any impenetrable malaise over the club. It is simply the reality of where we are.

It's this

I will never understand this level of vitriol. Do you think he's deliberately done this or something?

It's within his capabilities to adapt learn and change - he has chosen not to in the belief that 30 years in minor league football has given him all the tools necessary to mix it with the big boys. Is making a choice not to adapt the same as deliberately continuing to do something that isn't working? Dunno

Anyone who thinks it’s harsh on here (and it really isn’t) should pop into The Fighting C ock for a few minutes, as I did a few weeks ago. Made our ramblings seem very tame.

Weird place - bit of an echo chamber and too many posters trying to out-extreme eachother for reaction scores. Some decent posters among the mounds of lunatics.

I can honestly say we would have a better chance of beating Bodo with even Mason in charge, or maybe the groundsman.
Firstly bin this playing out from the keeper crap. We dont have good enough players and every opponent knows it. Just pinch it off us and we will concede goals.
Tighten up the defense first and foremost.
Gakpo was surrounded by 7 of our players but still scored.
Udogies pathetic attempt at defending against Salah for that goal. All just schoolboy half arsed defending.
Sack the fraud now please.
Pretty sure everyone was saying the same before the Frankfurt game as well

Yeah 100%, there's a reason I don't use that site or listen to their podcast. Doesn't excuse stuff here though. Maybe I go over the top on it but I really just don't see why things get so personal. I also don't understand how Ange is selling snake oil...but anyway.

Why are our players making so many mistakes? My guess would be that they are playing in positions or roles which they do not feel comfortable with and do not suit them.

A manager should come in, identify the best players to fit the tactic that they employ but then be happy to adjust it so that it suits the players that are being used. To not do so will fail consistently to get the best out of the players at the manager’s disposal.
Their confidence is destroyed at this stage, they have no belief in what they are doing. As a result making silly mistakes and taking wrong choices. When players reach that stage the only thing the manager should be doing is getting back to basics, keep the team solid and the play as simple as possible. But Ange won't change and still insists on doing things that aren't working.

I agree.
If we play Bodo in such a fashion and get the chance for one more game played like that on May 21st in Spain, I'd be all over it.

Online abuse directly aimed at people via their social media accounts is clearly different to people on message boards discussing them among eachother.

So, to use an old-school analogy: sending hate-messages to a schoolmate by note or mail is bad, putting it on the noteboard in the hallway is ok?

That doesn’t work as an analogy.

He’s never going to even know this forum exists, let alone read it, it’s like writing it on a noticeboard in a hallway in a different universe.

Doesn't really work as an analogy imv - using insulting/strong language while discussing someones performance as a sportsman is not the same as just outright writing abusive posts about them and certainly not the same as sending someone direct abuse, a very warped view to conflate that all together.

Still abuse and no need for it. You can be critical of someones performance without resorting to name calling.
