Looking at league performance, Postecoglou has our worst points-per-game since Ramos whilst only Ardiles and Hoddle lost a higher proportion of matches in the past 3 decades.

Hopefully he can lead us to Europa Cup glory and leave on a high, as the prospect of another season of reckless KamikAnge-ball watching us lose as frequently as we win doesn’t fill me with much enthusiasm.

Ardiles: Won 29.6% Drawn 25.9% Lost 44.4% PPG 1.15
Francis: Won 36.1% Drawn 30.3% Lost 33.6% PPG 1.38
Gross: Won 33.3% Drawn 25.9% Lost 40.7% PPG 1.26
Graham: Won 33.7% Drawn 29.6% Lost 36.3% PPG 1.31

Hoddle: Won 36.0% Drawn 20.2% Lost 43.8% PPG 1.28

Martin Jol: Won 41.6% Drawn 26.5% Lost 31.9% PPG 1.51
Ramos: Won 28.6% Drawn 31.4% Lost 40.0% PPG 1.17
Redknapp: Won 49.3% Drawn 25.7% Lost 25.0% PPG 1.74
Villas-Boas: Won 53.7% Drawn 22.2% Lost 24.1% PPG 1.83
Pochettino: Won 55.9% Drawn 21.3% Lost 22.8% PPG 1.89
Mourinho: Won 46.6% Drawn 24.1% Lost 29.3% PPG 1.64
Conte: Won 57.1% Drawn 16.1% Lost 26.8% PPG 1.88

Postecoglou: Won 43.6% Drawn 14.1% Lost 42.3% PPG 1.45

Who do you think is the back up left back?
Yours gonna say the player we and no other club want I think…
The club made brave, but stupid decisions on numbers in the summer and it’s bitten them bad .. almost zombie levels

If only we got another lb our season would have been great?

THFC 20 Seasons.JPG

20 years of results

Average finishing position of 5th (5.45)
Outside of the Juande season no manager has ever finished more than 4 positions away from the average
Ange is on track to finish 11 positions away from the average.

It's such a crazy outlier that squad, injuries, brick the club has supposedly being doing wrong for 20 years isn't even close to the answer/problem.

Seems to be being widely reported over the past 24 hours. Munn allegedly to go too.

Lots of supposition, of course, but not hard to see it as true. If Ange does go, hopefully it’s with a trophy in the bag.

I'm not sure that's the best argument against Reguillon: nobody wanted Spence (and we did try to flog him out) and he's turned out to be a very useful player (if slightly overrated now, in my opinion).

Oh BMJ is a million times more likeable than Ange, I haven't even begun to compare personalities. Ange fails there too, as he conducts himself so poorly imo. But my point was irrespective of what win percentages say, BMJ was a better manager for Spurs than Ange.
I'm not sure he was better, but he was certainly someone who right now seems to have had a lasting legacy with the club - he set the ball rolling towards our climb into the top 4 for a decade ahead. It might be that in time we come to see Ange as the guy who helped us move from the end of the Kane era to the beginning of the Bergvall (or similar) one.

Yeah Reggie, if he wasn't going to use him he could have registered someone else, he let Royal and PEH go, Skipp too.

He cut the squad down last year, he had options, good ones.
You're flying against the wind there and you probably know it. This board and anyone else associated with the club were all saying that Reguilon, PEH and Royal were not good enough.

I've enjoyed the debate but I have to call you on something before I step back a little...

Re Munn, hard disagree mate, you don't wait for the end of a year to see if you achieved your goals. This isn't about being perfect, not making mistakes, it's how quickly you understand the error and take action to correct. The club could have fired Ange quite reasonably in November and brought in a new manager, much higher chance of saving season, getting Europe via league vs. hoping for EL win. So the question (and no, I have no insight here), is in monthly reviews, when the question came up of stick or change, what did Munn advocate for? if he chose to stick with Ange, it's 100% on him, and that's how it's supposed to work at this level.

you say here that a new manager would have given a higher chance of saving the season, with absolutely no way of knowing. I know you are a subscriber to the "ange injured the players" motif, but beyond that how on earth can you say a new manager would have given us a higher chance of saving the season? Do you not remember the raft of managers rejecting us, that lead to Ange being appointed? How do you think this would have manifested itself mid season? Do you think A listers would have been queuing up for a job which had no pre-season, no real opportunity to add to the squad, swathe of injuries which were getting worse weekly, and the track record of our chairman in sacking managers?

Sorry but of all the stuff you have written on this subject, much of which can be seen as one side of a good debate, this is the fictional bit for me.

I don't think Kulu is particularly creative. Not in the Maddison sense anyway. Kulu is creative with little one-twos and sliding a pass in, but don't think he (or anyone else in the squad) has the switch of play/pace in their locker that Maddison has when he's on song.
The player that has created the 5th most chances in the league isn't particularly creative? :openmouth:

Spence has been excellent, however he needed work and development after the number Conte did on him. That he can fill at LB is miraculous, but really, the way we play requires a left-footer on the left of both defensive positions due to the speed of transitions.
I think Maddison has looked less because he has spent vast times of his career with us having to operate in a non-optimal role, because he has been carrying knock after knock, and he also gets sucked into dropping in to pick the ball up deep and try to prompt play-making (something which has happened a lot when Romero is unavailable as he dictates that role from the back.
It doesn't require a left-footer. The fact that the FBs are basically attacking midfielders most of the time means that it reduces the need for them to be the same foot as the wing they are on. It would be much more important if they were asked to hug the side of the pitch instead of coming inside.

2 PL clubs took him on loan in recent seasons and used him as cover - it's a position we needed to improve, that much is true but it's also true we had cover at LB going in to this season.
Cover that wasn’t wanted
Hence why even Tahoe two teams didn’t take him back
Technically you could say that we had cover in every position because we had a quantity of players

Fully agree
Spence looks better on the left rather than the right because of the way attackers invert onto his stronger foot

You don't get everything you want, no squad is perfect, sometimes you have to make do and as a make do option it's not the worst and frankly as an excuse it's scraping the barrel
