Europa

Also got arsenal at psv (is that the day before).

Edit here's the article.
Maybe UEFA are quite relaxed about Chelsea and Tottenham being at home the same night/day as that is often the case in the PL, so London police/authorities know the drill. Of course, it might be viewed differently depending on who their respective opponents are that night.

Well we have been given a good chance here to reach the final, that draw could have a lot worse.

Up to the team now to do their bit

Thinking about this a bit more. I wonder if UEFA would be happy with a Tuesday game. Could work out nicely for us. We don’t play the weekend before as out of the FA cup. Previous game the Wednesday before, Emirates Marketing Project, then we play Bournemouth on the Sunday. Would nicely spread the games out.
It's not just AZ and Ajax, but also us and Chelsea. I think UEFA is contemplating allowing two games in the same city on the same day.

As of April 7, 2025, the latest odds for the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winner are as follows:

  • Athletic Bilbao: 10/3
  • Manchester United: 7/2
  • Lazio: 4/1
  • Tottenham Hotspur: 4/1
  • Eintracht Frankfurt: 7/1
  • Lyon: 11/1
  • Rangers: 20/1
  • Bodø/Glimt: 40/1

We have a shot. Who can find form? United and us don't appear to be particularly good sides right now, but both have decent players, and might put soemthing together. Idk about the others sides, anyone give some insights?

If we somehow hustle through and win it, it would be a great send off for Postecoglou, who was celerated by fans initially. I don't think we'd keep him on even if we did win it. We'd also catapult into the CL like we'd entered a cheat code.

Maybe Postecoglou's all-or-nothing football suits the cups. I am trying to be positive :) His full-on approach, when you only have a few games to give everything, may work - see our first 10 games under his tenure.

....versus the cup half empty perspective:

We conceded too many goals for cup competition. We'll come up against sides who keep things tight and restrict us from scoring (unlike Southampton), and we will always give openings for them to score.

Nothing to do with the thread, but it will be interesting to see what a half-decent manager could do with our team. We do gift chances to the opposition for fun. Was it Santini who forbade the full-backs to enter the opposition half? Not saying we should go that far, but a defence whose primary function was defending would be an interesting notion.....
