*** Official Film Thread ***

Not sure where the TV thread has gone, so apologies, but I just have to call out The Sinner (Bill Pullman) as some of the best TV I've seen in years. I missed it first time (4 seasons 2016-2021) but season 3 (sequential watching is not vital) is one of the more brilliant seasons of TV I've watched. Talk about touching the existential void within the remit of a detective show!!!!

I watched Mr Mercedes season 1 at weekend, very gory start but found it really good........Gleesons acting is top rate.

This is a bit random but does anyone have any rivers for movies or TV they could PM me?

I used to know loads but am very out of touch!

Love the man.

Have a funny story about him - I was working in my local pub straight out of uni and it was located five mins from the Harry Potter Studios where they were filming one of the films.

It was about 11.30am on a week day, St Patrick’s Day no less, and I was down changing the barrels before the lunch rush. I came back upstairs to the bar and who should be sitting there but Brendan Gleeson! All I could simply say is “Ah, it’s Brendan Gleeson!” to which he replied “What’s your name?” and after I confirmed, he said “Dave, nice to meet you” and shook my hand.

I proceeded to serve him Guinness all day. It was his last day of filming so he was there with the crew and then he gave me a whacking great tip - £20 was a lot to me back then! - when he settled his tab, before staggering out and into a cab a few hours later.

A:I, 28 Days Later, Harry Potter, In Bruges, The Guard, Calvary, Banshees of Inisherin, drinks in The Unicorn pub - the man can do no wrong in my eyes! Love him.

Cracking movie and the shoot out on the big screen was worth it, not a big movie buff but do like it when they put on the classic old ones.

My favourite movie before the sunrise is one I would want to watch on the big screen.

His sons are decent actors
And the sketch where his son does a brick in a bottle is brilliant

I also went to watch Heat up Odeon and was great to finally see it on big screen with an appreciative audience, having only ever done so on TV before.

Looks like Before Sunrise had its 30th anniversary cinema re-release last month.

I'm Still Here is really good. It's a bit Lives Of Others but with beach and sunshine. Best new film I've seen since last summer.

Watched that at a packed screening up local Odeon last night, very good drama on par with The Motorcycle Diaries which is the only other movie directed by Walter Salles that I’ve seen. Reminded me a bit of Zone of Interest too.

Outstanding film
His rage and aggression shines though
I watched the conversation .,, pile of toss. Don’t get the hype
I really like him in his smaller role in No Way Out
The Conversation is IMO Francis Ford Coppolas best movie, and Gene Hackmans best movie. Maybe John Cazales best movie too. Amazing sound and soundtrack. A masterpiece about paranoia and guilt. I'd suggest your review is a pile of toss, and you give it another go.
