Archie Gray

he's got the attributes for a midfielder - vision, quick feet, ability to pass quickly... quite sure his best position isn't at CB though he is doing a fine job there. will probably be upgraded to a defensive CM next.

He's 18. How the fudge do you know his best position? Last season he played mostly right back.

How many games at senior level has anyone seen him play cm or dm?

Can’t say I watched Leeds much last season but his famed PotM performance against €helsea in the FA Cup was as a midfielder, so maybe he’ll be able to emulate his idol Jude Bellingham in time… or perhaps he’s destined to be a utility player like Milner.

…Gray played alongside the new signing Ethan Ampadu in midfield before being switched to right-back in early October. It has not fazed the teenager, who says the on-loan Tottenham defender Joe Rodon has helped him adapt.

“It’s good to learn different perspectives of the game,” Gray says. “Playing right-back is allowing me to understand the game even more for when I go back into midfield. You see players like James Milner playing different positions every game.

“If I become anywhere near as good as him it would be unbelievable. I think my best position will be as a box-to-box midfielder but, as the game is changing, you have to be increasingly adaptable.”

Doing brilliant, especially for his age. No need to get too hung up on position. He said himself that he’s happy just playing and learning.

There’s plenty of previous of players being successful at RB and CM - Philip Lahm, Joshua Kimmich. If it’s good enough for Bayern then I’m sure it’s good enough for us.

Love how he steps forward and how he fizzes some passes at times.

Was a situation quite soon after their second goal. Under pressure, deep on the left hand side. Really heavy pressure. No doubts giving away possession could have lead to an equaliser. Gray was as cool and composed as anyone, did a move, kept the ball, moved it on.

Consistently through the game took responsibility on the ball, while almost never overplaying it.

Love it. If he develops well he's going to be a fantastic player.

Definitely, I'm sure he'll settle into a position in time but it's good to have someone who can perform well in a variety of areas. Shows really good understanding of the game. Seen Milner and Hargreaves do similar as well.
