Offered Job "Opportunity"......Advice needed

Right, i have grown tired of my job and want to move on. Financially the job im in is alright and enables me to live a comfortable lifestyle. By this i mean, the rent is paid, bills are paid, there is food in the cupboard and i probably have a few hundred quid to spend on what i want each month. Im not pulling up trees financially but am getting by just fine. However the job itself is dull, gives me no satisifaction and i disagree with suggested practices to meet unrealistic targets. Not stretching targets, unrealistic targets.

So anyway i decided to get a CV written up and stick it on a few sites to see if i can attract any interest. Within a couple of days i discovered voicemail on my phone. They said they wanted to speak to me after viewing my CV and they were going to send me some information via e-mail.

I watched this 25 minute clip and did a bit of research. From what i can gather my role would basically be to recommend the companies products to people to try to rustle up sales (i suppose like Avon :lol. I can work when i want and will be be paid based on the sales that i make. The plus side to this is that i work extended hours 4 days a week so have 3 others days where i can work on this. I dont have to jack in my job (although this will be the end goal) until i know i can earn a decent living from this.

I believe this is some kind of "Multi-Level Marketing" concept. I get paid if i sell, the person who recruited me would earn off my sales. If i am successful at selling i can recruit myself and earn off those i have recurited to the company. The companies products are to do with health and nutrition so it is an area i can get personally involved in.

Im very dubious of this whole scenario. From reading up about the company they seem to have a decent reputation and they do say that you will not get rich quickly and you need to build your client base before you start pulling in any serious money which is fair enough. However, i have no experience of this area of work and am not sure if it really is possible to make enough money to get by on through getting involved in this. I know i can speak to this person that contacted me but obviously as they stand to gain from recruiting me i want to get an objective view of things from others.

So, has anyone done this type of work before? Is there actually any prospect of earning serious cash from this or is it all a sham? Im not sure i would really consider this if i wasnt so desperate to get out of my job but then i think doing something completely different to what im used to may actually be what i need so what the hell i should give it a try.

Surely you are not going to get suckered into this.

I instantly distrust anyone that "employs" on a commission only basis. If they are expecting you to buy your own stock, then definitely tell them to do one unless you have a particular affinity for the product range and think you'll sell it easily.

Either that, or you could find a Roma gypsy to provide you a work force of sales women and send them all out for you

If it is MLM mate I would tread carefully.

Without knowing the name of the Company it's hard to be more specific than that but based on past experience they will overstate the potential earnings, gloss over the pitfalls and flimflam instead of answering questions truthfully.

Having said that, provided your eyes are open and your expectations realistic, you can test the water without burning your bridges so, why not?

To be honest mate. If you are thinking about going down that road, you are better off going onto some franchise websites and finding a product that you really fancy getting your teeth into.

The initial reaction on here confirms what i thought. As i say, i think my view may have been clouded by the potential chance of getting out of my current job but yeah i dont think i should go anywhere near this. I dont even know why ive bothered to ask because my gut feeling was this was bad news and not for me. Still its never bad to get others opinions on something.

There must be quite a few who do make money out of this kind of thing otherwise the model wouldnt exist. I do wonder whether it is possible to truly succeed having been recruited at the bottom and working up.

Did the sales pitch involve a bloke driving a Ferrari and holidaying in the Caribbean 3 times a year?

Had you taken this on, you'd be known as that annoying bloke that's always trying to sell some cheap and nasty weight loss pill. People will start to avoid you. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

Yeah i thought it was weird, especially as there was nothing in my CV to suggest that i would make a useful distribution agent or whatever they are called. In fact ive reviewed my CV today and there were a couple of spelling errors in it which makes it even more laughable.

No Ferrari but lots of people who had done very well for themselves. Allegedly. There was one guy who had been on 6 holidays abroad in the past year with his wife and 3 or 4 children.

I can't actually believe that having spoken to people on here and at home that i was even slightly tempted by it. Im normally very logical with my thinking and to think i have been semi-suckered into thinking this may be a good opportunity for me is embarrasing :-"

Sounds a little like a modern incarnation of Amway Cleaning products or Kirby vacuum cleaners that were going about when I was younger. These were sold with missionary zeal by agents.

Company was called Forever! Their products apparently all contain Aloe-Vera which promotes good health in a number of ways. Drinks, creams, lotions, supplements. The more i look into it the more i realise that i would be nothing more than a slightly more upmarket Avon rep. Not for me.
