Decent film on the whole, then the unbelievable ending ruins the whole thing.
It was a solid 3.5/5 but I've seen very similar storylines. The ending... meh.

A friend's daughter got me onto Letterboxd and that has been fun and a critical test of memory too... No chance of me remembering every pirate flick, war film and western I saw as a bairn. I've had a go. Searching out gems from my youth to enjoy with my daughter has been fun. I'm up to 2100 but grinding to a halt. Watched 'Disclosure Day' last night, expecting very little. It was okayish... I felt out of respect to Mr Speilberg, it deserved a look. I love the genre and it was watchable. Torn between the 250 long watchlist, The End of Oak Street or The Odyssey.

I'm in the same situation (we have 6- & 8-year-old daughters). ET was a good'un. A few other films that we all found worked for the entire family...

School of Rock
Batman movie (1960's w/ Adam West)
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder version)
The Sandlot
Any Muppet movie

Avoid:
Holes
Funny you mention original Batman, I was telling her about it today. Charlie & the Choc she can almost recite! Will check out 'The Sandlot'. The Princess Bride, National Treasure (A bit punchy), Goonies and Karate Kid all enjoyed.

I've recently been introducing the bairn into some quality 80s cinema. Started gently with E.T. After an early WTAF ( I paraphrase) at the quality... We were treated to an early 'peni$ breath' I had utterly forgotten. I then had to explain why I had suddenly started yodeling in the middle of the scene. The entire Star Wars catalogue has been conquered since. She's not a fan of Palpatine, Vader or any Sith for that matter. Shame there isn't a forumesque App to install that makes some of the language more creative. Back to The Future was quite colourful, especially with added spectre of incest and terrorism.

Watership Down (1977)? Best animated film of all time.
"My Chief Rabbit has told me to stay and defend this run, and until he says otherwise, I shall stay here."

I really enjoyed the series of this, and thought they absolutely butchered it for the US version - the film should be good I reckon!

Yeah, I couldn’t get along with the US rehash of Ghosts either. See that there’s also an Australian version but haven’t watched any.

Went up cinema for watch The Possession of Button House last night and was great fun watching it with dozens of other Ghosts fans laughing together for 90 minutes 😄
