This is another example of widespread ignorance of human consequences.

Of course, its a product of the capitalism mind hack of consumerism, all in the name of profit and growth growth growth

Nearly everything in life is a cycle, we humans have introduced many things that aren't....how far down the road (on multiple fronts) we are from suffering the consequences of this is anyone's guess.
BUT by definition it's unsustainable.
