We could.have signed him for about £20m in the summer and we could have kept Lankshear. We did neither, and now we are where we are with an unregistered Richalison, an unfit and off form Solanke and a Marmoush who is not a natural centr forward.

I would have preferred to keep him in the squad but so much of this discourse is crazy. They talk like those goals he scored for Middlesbrough would automatically be transferred to goals for Spurs. Quite obviously, it doesn't work that way. He might have started a couple of games, probably come off the bench in more and who knows...maybe scored a few goals. Or maybe he scores none and everyone's wondering why we didn't loan him out for more experience.

Unless he actually became 2014/15 Harry Kane, the club can't really win.

Or keep him until January, and if it's not working, send him on loan.
The real reason this sucks, is because the Nepos have sold all our young prospects to fund the grand pretence of 'spending more money than Levy'. Which they haven't.

I think its more a case with a lack of options it might have been nice to see how he handled it. I don't think anyone sound of mind thinks EFL goals mean the same TBH

It's exactly what he needed, you never know how youngsters will develop. I've always thought he is the most natural goal scorer we have produced (I know he was as Sheffield United, but the improvement in his game was at Spurs), far better than Kane who worked so hard to become the great player he is today.

Anyone who watched him closely at U21 level and the loans knows that selling him was a stupid move. If he needed to be moved on then a loan for experience should have been the preferred option.

Made all the worse as we only have one proper striker in the squad currently and he's not the greatest of players

I’m pretty sure the club watched him closely at U21 level.
