I've no clue if those allegations are true or not but it wasn't simply a case that ratings needed to be boosted. Netanyahu was (and continues to be) on trial for corruption and is facing jail time if found guilty.Sounds like a festering crock to me. If it was credible intel it wouldn't be shared at that level at all. It would be shared between the security services, and not just those within Israel either. There is also no record of any meeting having taken place at all. At the time, I recall that they were expecting a brokered deal with the Saudis and were actively trying not to inflame tensions even though there are always calls for attacks on varying Hamas targets in Gaza. We should however never let the facts get in the way of a good story, attempting to suggest Netanyahu ignored the threat because the massacre of civilians in Israel and the taking of hostages was a great precursor to a spot of 'genocide' in Gaza to boost his failing ratings.
