With Emirates Marketing Project found guilty of all 115 charges, what will this mean for the many teams who were disadvantaged by their cheating? A certain Tottenham Hotspur AFAIR finished 5th and missed out on Champions League football in four of those seasons with Emirates Marketing Project ahead. It is suggested that CL qualifcation is worth £50-100m+ each season. Of course there are certain intangible aspects like reduced ability to attract top stars. How much should we ask for in compo? £500m?

Only found guilty of 114 of 115 charges.
That means they'll get off scot free.

Burnley just successfully sued Everton for £40M based on loss of revenue from being relegated in 2022 when Everton had breached FFP.

The total loss of revenue for Burnley was £58.5M. So they won approx 68% of lost revenue.

Spurs finished 1 place out of the Champions League spots and behind Emirates Marketing Project in 4 of the season for which the 115 charges are covered.

Based on participating in the Champions League in those seasons with a group stage exit vs Europa League, the estimated drop in revenue is £80M.

So based on the legal precident set by Burnley v Everton, Spurs can expect legal damages of over £50M.

There are 23 potential individual claims across CL, European and EPL losses. If you averaged CL at £50m, Europe and relegation at £35m you get to £1.015bn potential compo before you blink. Reaches for popcorn...
 
I’ve been saying for some years that this era has been the hardest ever to win a trophy, made even trickier by two teams clearly cheating and hoovering up trophies as a result. What’s especially frustrating is that the failure to win trophies has been a stick used to beat Tottenham Hotspur’s for twenty odd years now.

How different would things have been without the cheating? Would Spurs have won the league under Poch but for Chelsea’s (largely unpunished) offences? Would Spurs have won a CL but for being prevented from qualification by a cheating City? Would Spurs have won a League Cup?!

Of course we will never know. But it’s a terrible shame that millions of football fans have been denied the unbridled joy of seeing their team win silverware due primarily to the cheating of other entities.

Alas, I think that this will go on for many years. Ultimately, if the League stands its ground, we could see Emirates Marketing Project go to the very bottom of the pyramid and be forced to compensate everyone for everything. Quite how that can be achieved will be mind boggling difficult though.

The worst thing of all is that Woolwich - fresh off being handed a title by the EPL and PGMOL last year - now gets a free run at the league for the foreseeable.

I just hope that Spurs stands up for himself and demands what it is due. Daniel Levy certainly would! So let’s hope the current administration does.

Its interesting TBH, for all the discourse on here about us being run wrong or right under Levy and others being so much better than us at is (aka many cheating) we would have almost certainly won more in the last 20 years had others not been allowed to do as they did.
 
After dealing with City they should finally move onto dealing with the scum who bribed their way into the top division at our expense, get their trophies taken away along with some compensation for all the teams effected by those clams brickhousery over the last century.
 
I understand all football fans wanting City to be punished for their cheating and hope they get a punishment that equates to the length of time they were cheating.
I personally think financial penalties are pointless to the owners of City and financial compensation does not mean anything to the fans, we will never get that feeling of elation winning throphies gives you. What does £50-80m get you in current transfer market and if 6-7 clubs were getting that sort of payout it would inflate market.
Relegation to the lowest level should be the least penalty they get along with being barred from being selected for European competitions for 5 years if they get back in PL.
This may seem harsh to some (media) but they have cheated every real football fan around the world.

The only real punishment is relegation and it's the only one that will act as a deterrent to others.
Should have happened to Chelsea, if the PL bottle it this time English football is pointless.

Just copying over so it's in the one place.... 🤣

I think you are being very generous here, I hope the club go in for all the 6 times we have missed out to city, some of the players purchased over that time would have still played a part, even after the cut of period, they were also able to purchase players with money wrongly earnt from CL revenue.

We also missed out on EL once and played in conference league instead, nowhere near as much.... but adds up.

Also the extra place in the premier league pays a few million.

The PL are at a bit of a cross roads here.

If the punishment is seen as too light, the brand will be massively damaged, beyond repair? No, but there will also be doubts over how it's run and sponsors may consider if they want to be attached to it, Italian league is a mess now.

They won't want them back after 1 season in the championship, that's a nothing punishment.

I would imagine they are at least speaking with the FL about having them relegated into League 2, which will be a 4 year punishment

The owners should be told they have to sell before they are allowed back into the PL, I'm not sure how realistic that would be

There should also be a points deduction waiting for them once they return to the PL and an incoming transfer ban for a period of time.
 
If they go straight down to League 2, the EPL would have to make it attractive to the Football League. As a starter, I’d expect that would mean four teams coming up from the Champ to Prem, L1 to Champ and L2 to L1. Ergo, maybe city won’t save us from relegation!
 
40+ trophies taken off the table in British football in the last 20 years by these and Chelsea, thats insane when you think about the impact of the footballing landscape. How many teams have had their recent history shaped and impacted by that. I feel for certain we have but there would be so many who missed out on justified days of glory, you could say punished for actually doing it the right way
