***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool***

For large parts of this game we didn't show enough urgency, or aggression which is surprising for an RDZ team. There was so little in the way of us pressing them high up the pitch. Liverpool pressed our goalkeeper whereas we stood off their's. Some quality in patches but not enough across the game. Solanke sub, for me was too late. Marmoush, Savio and Fernandes looked good, Gallagher, goal aside and Tel were poor. Kudus playing himself back to fitness. Lots of work for RDZ to do. The result tonight was not surprising tbh I don't think we ever looked convincing enough to win.

True, but everyone knows the quality of Szoboszlai’s delivery, so it’s yet another error—a recurring lack of footballing intelligence.
Everyone on this forum—and even at the stadium on Saturday—spotted things during the game that the players on the pitch missed.

Take Archie Gray’s forward runs, for instance; none of our players saw them.

We aren't professionals, but I can say that what I heard on Saturday and what I’m reading here makes it glaringly obvious.
Our footballing IQ is higher than theirs... the only thing they have over us is physicality.

I said before we signed him, I wouldn't pay £75m for him to play on the right because well frankly I don't think he's particularly good there. There are a LOT of better options than him on the right imo. Kudus being the obvious one in our own ranks.

We shouldn't have paid 75m for a player they paid 35m for and who failed for them.

It's highly unlikely, but lets be clear "odds against it" isn't a strategy.

Looking good (or "ok") and not winning means nothing.

I think we will be ok, but RDZ probably has 5 games at his point, we can't afford to throw away 8-10 games this season (after the last 2) and hope it all works out.

Nope. That would be stupid. But we certainly should have thrown a lot at getting him, and should have aimed to convince him that he could go into semi-retirement in 12 or 18 months, after enjoying another spell playing at the top level.

Never mind though. We’ve got Solanke and…erm…
 
The trouble is Savio looks like Tel mk2 at the moment and the rest of our expensive signings look very average. I said very early in the thread about the players Pool had on the bench. We did not have one player in our squad who can hit a ball like all 3 of their goals. I keep hearing the same old talk, just wait until it gels but I just cant see it. And lets not forget their starting line up was no where near full strength. If we cant get a result at the weekend I think the alarm bells will really be sounding loud

Completely agree. I think if anything we are already seeing some small signs of gelling. Should have had 2 goals in first half.

Our players just don’t have the ability to strike balls like theirs, or to finish.
