Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

The RNLI thing is the most insane brick I’ve seen in a while, and there’s been some insane brick these last few years in politics.

We truly do have some thick, bigoted people in this country.
Absolutely shocking and should be a red flag to reasonable people who are concerned about immigration that the debate has swung too far to the right. If masked individuals roaming the street and threatening violence on the police and immigrants isn't enough to demonstrate that, surely the attacks and doxxing of RNLI volunteers should shock people into that realisation?

Moreover that useful idiot, Zia Yusuf not only gives Reform the kind of legitimacy they don't deserve but is a horrible individual in his own right. Commenting on the leader of Camden Council Sagal Abdi-Wali's candidacy for Keir Starmer's vacated seat he posted the following on X :-

The frontrunner being foisted on the people of Holborn by Labour to replace the former prime minister Keir Starmer in our parliament was born in Somalia. Do you understand what’s happening?

Man alive he could be in power after 2029! The thought is depressing.

I don’t think reasonable people are concerned about immigration.

I think they are concerned by political corruption, corporate tax avoidance and the reduction in public services.

Reasonable people are not tricked into thinking downtrodden minorities are the enemy.

I think neo-liberalism using social dumping to undercut wages and grow population beyond the means of the infrastructure is a legitimate concern

Immigrants have been turned from those in need of sanctury and those who enrich culture, into those who compete for scarce resources, because of the unregulated machinations of big business and its lobby

They were always the middle one.

Shout out to the 30,000 nobodies who pick up the bill.

I'm one of them and I couldn't give a damn he is going. You are in the US and trying to stoke some weird thing about how we need billionaires. We fukin don't. You just conform the trickle down system. Once you are able to see beyond what they tell you is the only viable system you might get it rob. Doubt it

Thank Greece, they're the cads offering low taxes for hedge fund managers..

Yep and there will always be options for rich people looking to avoid paying more tax, its nothing new

Yes we need to get better at creating wealth here, but then people try to block development and changes of industry by claiming net zero is a fad, so even a move into new job creation in future proofed industries can't work because the same people cry about it.

Governments can rarely win in this situations, in times of need you either tax the poor or the rich, probably on balance right that the richest just pay a slither more than pushing the poorer classes into deeper poverty. Not ideal but here we are

I think we should look to start removing citizenship from people who move abroad to avoid paying tax. Or at least put a financial price on retaining it

Believing that we need wealthy people in the country to be paying high amounts of tax does not equate to a blanket support of Capitalism.

The top 1% pay over 25% of income tax. The top 20% pay over 75%. You do need these people.

The top 50 people have more wealth than bottom 50% (35 million). That's seriously broken
