Richarlison

The Richarlison situation is hard for anyone to know about because he's such a headcase. I just listened to Ali Gold's podcast and they kind of hinted at the same, nobody really knows what is going on in Richy's head or his camp. He said he wanted to go to Everton previously, a deal was in place and he rejected it. They assume for wage reasons but nobody really knows.

I am happy we left him out of the squad. It has turned into a distraction and after this, it would only get worse for how fans would treat him at games (deserved or not). Best to just move on from this headache of an average player.

Not sure “headcase” is the best term to use about someone who’s spoken of their mental health struggles.

Maybe you are right and I do take mental health struggles seriously but Richarlison is one that the mental health struggles only come up when things are going against him. It does not excuse his actions or back and forth what he continues to do with the club.

He's talked about having googled methods of suicide. That's not something anyone confesses lightly

I think that might all be circumstantial. We were happy for Richy to leave before his statement. Remember his statement was in reference to the failed move, that we were happy to sanction.

So I don't think he is suffering retribution from the club, I just think we want to get some money for him given that this is his last year.

The simplest answer is often the real one.

It is possible for TWO things to apply in one situation.

Definitely seems like Richy tinkled off the club with his actions in the last few days.
Probably as simple as he was the 'blocker' of the deal, and that delay prevented us completing a deal we wanted, and even thought was 98% done.
So we are a bit tinkled and disappointed.
Especially as it's your own player that collapses it.

Of course, Richie has his own side of the story, and we've half been told the essence of that via his IG. (And I'm fine with that)

That would tend to fit with the above and the subsequent 'we don't need you anymore,' by the club. Or alternatively a move is imminent, so you wouldn't give him a squad place. So let's hope a deal does materialise, as Richie would be more useful than Xavi up until January.

Seems slightly disingenuous of RDZ to claim no responsibility for the decision to leave him out of the squad though ... surely he would have had to have some sort of input on a decision like that, if not sign-off. If not, you'd hardly think he'd be very happy.

I don’t think he’s saying that he had no say in the decision. He’s making the point that if someone doesn’t want to stay he has no other option than to leave them out, because he only wants players that want to be here.

So, Turkish window seems to have been missed. Can we still play him in the cups?

Yeah ok….seriously what is going on with Richy? Turn down the Everton move because you think you’ll get paid more elsewhere. I get that.

But then the Turkey move doesn’t happen. Now what? Is he betting on Saudi now? Was it Saudi all along? Does he want to go home to Brazil? Genuinely what is he thinking? It makes no sense.
