Kevin Danso

Damn 😩

I wonder if things would be different if Danzo wanted to leave before we decided to pull the trigger on Senesi and van Hecke. Maybe we would have Vuskovich starting games.

The narrative has been set unfortunately, and it will take a while to undo it...FWIW I agree with you.

It seems that your narrative is set here - why can't criticism or opinions be just that?

It's a little early in the season to be throwing around these sorts of comments.

I see Tomori may be available from AC Milan. Decent defender who can also fill in at rb, HG too so might be a goer if Danso leaves.

Don't blame Danso for wanting to leave. He was our best defender despite being 3rd choice behind the calamity that was Romero and VDV. I really hope the first three choices can actually start defending the box properly otherwise without Danso we have no good box defenders!
I felt we only stayed up because because Romero was injured and Danso played brilliantly most of the time.

And it's not unusual imho for a player who played really well during a difficult moment for the club to be well liked and conversely for a new player to still need to prove themselves. Especially after 2 poor League results where we have conceded 5 goals.

I thought JPVH played reasonably well last Saturday and poorly the Saturday before vs Brentford. We faced 2 very different teams and imho required different CB solutions. Both he and Danso have a role in this team. I'm just surprised that posters are willing to write off the latter so quickly because JPVH is the superior passer.

I feel it's a fairly reasonable position to take

There's a fair bit of it in his thread: https://www.glory-glory.co.uk/threads/jan-paul-van-hecke.12602/page-10

Of course, 'awful' is just the word I used but I'm sure you can look past that to see there's quite a few people who don't think he's a good enough defender (and definitely not as good Danso)

People are allowed to have an opinion based on what they have seen of a player - it's not like we're talking about someone plucked from obscurity. Asides from a rather vocal poster whose opinions should always be taken with a large pinch of salt there's not much going on there.

Totally agree. He made a mistake against Brighton but he was the only defender that actually defended the box.

We shipped in 5 goals already. It has to get better!

So you are saying that was the ONLY reason why we stayed up 🤔
No, a factor of many things lead to us staying us.

But without him our defence looked more porous, so likelihood is we would have conceded more goals. Think if that was the case we’d have gone down even with improvements elsewhere.

People have bought into all the changes unconditionally, which is great, thats all part of being a fan and having hope. I don't think its the crime made out though if you question or wonder out loud if all the decisions are and will be correct.

Ultimately we have gone all in with this new look, selling a host of players to do it, so everything is going to come with pressures, as it should, this is top level PL football
