Pre Season Thread

I imagine RDZ wants everyone to get at least 70 minutes this weekend. So those not playing today will play 70 tomorrow or more. So doesn’t want them playing any minutes today. Wouldn’t be surprised to find out tomorrow is another game of two 35s.
Have they said today is a 70 minutes match or 90?

Way things are going with injuries have to hold loaning out the younger players until the last minute, appears under the rules Mikey could turn out for us in the first two league games if needed and still go out on loan before Sept 1st deadline, that's what AI says but could be wrong.

PS Preview started on Spursplay

It makes sense with Moore and Donley, but probably none of the others (we have 4 LBs re Souza)

Scarlett or Takai are too old now so would take up already stretched over-21 squad places.

Ajayi is potentially the only other attacker anywhere near the mix

PL squad is 25 senior players with max 17 non-home grown so leaves 8 HG places, I make it we only have 7 senior HG's , Austin, Davies, Solanke, Madders, Danso , Gallagher and Scarlett , so Scarlett could stay as back up without keeping anyone out unless we are going to sign a home grown player.

So far he has been deep and made us tick. Also work off the ball in that area has been superb
“(De Zerbi) wants our relationship to be 100 per cent, especially on the pitch, because off the pitch, our relationship is already top,” Tonali says. “We have to keep our football, our work on the pitch, because it’s tough. We played in two different teams last season, two different shapes, two different football (styles). Now we are together, and we have to find our shape, our football.

“Sometimes it’s not easy. Maybe you need two or three weeks. But after four or five days, me and Mateus said, ‘It’s not really difficult, this football, because we know the rules about this shape’. We played in the past with two midfielders, and if you play with two midfielders, you already know everything. You know the offensive phase, the defensive phase, and it’s a little easier. You need less time.”

Tonali spent much of last season operating as a No 6 for Saudi Sportswashing Machine due to team-mates’ injuries, but has often played his best football as a dynamic No 8. While Fernandes is also capable in both roles, Tonali thinks his new running mate’s qualities should allow him to have more influence higher up the pitch.

“I don’t know, we don’t decide already, but I think him,” he said, when asked who will be the sitting midfielder in their partnership. “For me, I played at No 6 last season, but for him, I think his characteristics are more No 6 than No 8.”
