The Goon Thread

Wonderful quote from Jonathan Wilson at The Guardian…

“The result is that this season looks as hard to call as any in living memory. Perhaps the Premier League has entered its Arsenal era and Arteta will soon squat like a giant toad across English football”

About sums them up.

How this season goes for them might depend on how good Tzolis actually is (i've seen it said that he has the touch and vision of Trossard but with pace, potentially quite scary).

With all we saw last season and the world cup i don't think they'll be able to rugby their way to another title like last season, they will have to win via front-footed play.

Let's see if Arteta can do that...i have my doubt's but i won't bet against him/them on that front, sadly

They will need more than just being functional this season BUT alot will depend on what others do, because if no contender comes from the pack they might get a clear run

He wont go there to play that brick, turgid football. Champions in name only, certainly not in style.

Unfortunately it is only the 'in name' bit that matters.

Don't think he will end up there but I think Arteta realises he needs to change his style from last year. I think last year was playing a %age and minimal gain strategy to get the monkey off their back and get over the line and they got lucky that enough star aligned to allow that. I think Arteta doesn't like the criticism and being seen as being so negative and that could be his Achilles heel this year as he tries to open up and play better football.
