World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

I think it’s fair to say that player by player England is better than Norway in pretty much every position. Kane/Haaland is a bit of a toss up depending on what you want, but other then that - there’s no real contest. Nusa is good, but hasn’t exactly set the World Cup on fire. Ryerson on the right back is good, would maybe make the England line up on the night. Anyways, I don’t think it’s unfair to say that England are huge favorites tonight. But! It’s a one off. Who’s the better team on the night? If Norway has a remarkably good day, and England is having something akin to a nervous stinker - we’re in with a shout! And wouldn’t that be fudging epic? A man can dream, haha.

Norway have been playing some of the best football at the World cup. They looked so much better technically than Brazil which is strange to say and they can definitely hurt us. I have them winning in all honesty. We will allow them to have all of the ball and unlike Mexico, they will make us pay unless we are on it 100%.

I don’t think this is the full blown conclusion that a lot of English people think it is.

I’d play stones, not because he has the physicality to deal with Haaland, he clearly doesn’t, but he’s better than Guehi and Konsa positionally and might be able to keep him out just by playing smart.

As good as a few England players are, this could go either way, Norway are very strong.

You're blowing smoke up our arse.😁

Let me clarify, when it’s hot, say 30 degrees Celsius and above then I’m all for it. But when it’s raining or in air conditioned stadiums, what’s the point of it?

Look, we all know it is because of TV ads. Nobody in the US or FIFA cares about the welfare of the footballers.

However, if this heatwave continues into pre-season and the first couple of league games of the PL then I can see hydration breaks happening.

I don't think anyone sees us as strong favourites, Norway can't get away with the 'underdogs' tag as everyone can see they are a good team even if not full of big names. If the match was played ten times I'd say England would win 6, it's almost close call. The Kane vs Haaland is always an interesting debate, Haaland is amazing at what he does but for me Kane can do everything where as Haaland can't so I'd always take Kane but happy to be accused of Spurs bias.

Looking forward to this one, I think it will be one of the more entertaining knockout games. If we was going to get knocked out to someone, would be happy for it to be Norway....

If England can't win it I hope Norway do.

I'm just joining the collective Norwegian effort to big you all up so that you'll underestimate us. It's a game of football. Anything can happen. On a good day, the collective of Norway is better than an average day for England. It'll be all about the performance levels on the day. Who is turned on, able to turn off the nervousness, and able to give it their all out there? I'd say England has got more of the players capable of doing all of those things - but it's just 90 minutes (and hydration breaks) of football - anything can happen. I'd say 65-35 in favour of England is about right.

If Norway beat England tonight, then I do wonder, whether the commentator on norwegian telly will go bonkers like Bjørge Lillelien did in 1981 :)

Legendary commentary.
