Sandro Tonali Official

Proper signing. As much for what it implies as for the player himself - and Tonali himself is no slouch. Fast, strong, relentless. A Premier League-proven box to box midfielder in the Daniele De Rossi mould, and we're getting him in his absolute prime at 26.

But it's more what it means that impresses me. For once, the club have decided to equip the manager with exactly who he wants, when he wants them - well before pre-season starts.

A full pre-season with most of his first-choice signings in place, followed by a season with one game a week to embed his ideas and tactics.

De Zerbi has no excuses not to deliver. This is the best chance he's ever had at building a squad that is tailor-made to his football, and Tonali sounds like the centrepiece of his project here. The club have put their money where their mouth is, and have put total faith in him - up to him now to prove that faith is justified.

I can't wait to see this play out. :)

Again no dancing midget?

There used to be a forum over here

I thought that this board was now subject to wokism and such offensives terminology and memes were no longer permitted?!

That's apparently 'cheating' though....

If he becomes our favourite Sandro, it'll mean it's been a hell of a signing.

Feels odd being on this side of it, if one of our best players left to a club finishing above the relegation zone many would kick off...

Not to be a naysayer, but Tonali has stood out less than Guimares and Joelinton in the league. And I don't think there's new ground to tread in the discussion on betting charge, in a sense it was great how Saudi Sportswashing Machine stood by him but I don't know how many strikes you get in that situation.

That said, he's what De Zerbi wanted alongside Fernandez. I don't watch enough football these days to really know who is out there. But I look forward to seeing these two in our colours, it's not a case of adapting to a system, hopefully it's setting a new standard / laying down the law.

This is true, but Giumares also stood out more because of the hard work Tonali did. His energy etc helps to free them up.
