Transfer thread

Even beyond assists, goals is a gap in the team no question

- Kudus and Savino (most realistic rumour right now) are not prolific
- Neither Richi or Solanke are prolific

I'd say that one of the reasons the MGW talk is popping again, we need someone else to add goals
If we play 4-3-3 we need 3 players capable of getting 10 goals minimum and 2 of them need 15 minimum
That’s just to get us started

Are you sure it's gone that high again? 41 feels massively overstated. Perhaps there's a few Mathew Craig's hanging around the 21's.

I do think people have to remember the squad quota rules though. Just because we're not in a UEFA comp this coming season, doesn't mean we don't need to forward plan for it, especially the club trained category. An example was Bergval who was bought at the age where he could be a long term club trained player. Now fans want to sacrifice him for some fast cash. We must not do that.

We have 19 games this side of Xmas plus the league cup. Then we have another 19 games plus FA Cup and hopefully a few more league cup games. We have to find a way of maintaining the right squad levels. As you say, even if we had maintained UEFA comps we'd still need to downsize.
Bergvall, Gray and Vuskovic (if he stays this year) would all count as Academy Trained next season, plus any of the other Academy players (Lankshear, Phillips etc).

fudge me. Antonio Nusa with another magnificent game for Norway. If we want a left sided forward, he's the one to get! The way he runs with the ball is incredible! And he can cut inside and shoot, dribble past like Messi, go outside and cross, and he changes it up all the time. Defenders have no clue what he's going to do!
Seriously disappointed if we don't try to get him!
Norways 2nd choice, Andreas Schjelderup wouldn't be bad either, but Mourinho will probably bring him with him from Benfica to Real Madrid.

I doubt it, they have quality up top … plus he’s not going to appease the fans with him.

Mourinho will bench the crybabies they have up front if they don't track back and work for the team.
The fans will be appeased when they see him play! Which they already have, when he and Benfica beat them in the Champions league, and Schjelderup was very good. Goal and assist in that game.

That’s the thing with Mourinho, he will get those cry babies playing. Let’s see.

It will probably be difficult for Mourinho to bring him from Benfica when he plays for Leipzig

I raised this before a week or so again with your Norwegian compatriot
Why do you think his numbers don’t stand out at leipzig?

Completly different role at Leipzig. They don't play to his strengths at all. His starting position at Leipzig is more like a LM than LF. There are others in that Red bull team that have similar patterns. And he's also played a lot on the right there, where he's not nearly as effective.
Don't think their coach is very good.

That’s the like of context I like to hear

I'd never heard of Nusa but the amount of times I see a name, look them up and see they play for Leipzig. Their scouting is unreal, seem to have a conveyor belt of talent. The guy who plays on the other wing (Diomande) gets a lot of mentions as well.

It's difficult to be onboard with wanting certain players sold (Bergvall, Sarr etc), as their environment in recent seasons has been desperate/chaotic...so it's almost like they are victims of the situation rather than moved on after fair personal assessment, which could be coming if RDZ is our first talented manager in a while. It also risks missing out in their potential.

Besides, there are plenty we can sell.

Definitely, we've been so up and down - not a great environment for young players. A loan for Bergvall might be good but then I don't think he'd count as home grown? I've been a big Sarr fan but if we can get a decent fee for him then I think we need to take it.

I agree with you in several senses, and am personally a HUGE fan of both Bergy and Sarr. Your point about chaotic is on point; Bergy was superb for us in Ange's last season, beyond his years for sure. The risks of cashing in on them would be huge, no doubt whatsoever. I just have a feeling that RDZ is going to make a couple of eyebrow-raising changes, and that perhaps they would be potentials?

I think the issue becomes keeping all happy. Palhinha, Gallagher, Bergvall, Gray, Sarr, Bentancur. If you include Maddison and Xavi in that core that's 8 midfielders on the books and an imbalance towards power over passer. I just don't see that holding for this season, and think RDZ is going to want to bring at least one or two in. I think (as stated) an Alex Scott would be great for us for several reasons, and I agree with @Bedfordspurs on his Wharton take. It is going to be really, really interesting to see what happens. Honestly, it could just be a really unfortunate balance v numbers game too!
