Jamie Donley

I watched a lot of him at Leyton Orient. He's talented and has that cutting edge in passing and finishing (and make no mistake, I loved watching him play) but you could just see its all happening a bit slower than your top class 10s. Like the first 5 yards of speed, the half turns, and getting away from an opponent. That sounds harsh but its the reality. Maybe that's what's been seen. Wouldn't need a huge amount of data to be able to surface that + the eye test.

RDZ isnt going to want to lose a season developing a 10 when he has Madders, Deki and Simons.....although you look at the seriousness of their injuries....

Actually just read a couple of replies on that thread from Oxford fans - "Not mobile", "Inventive but lacks speed of thought", "league one player at best". I actually think he could go well in a good championship team but wouldn't be near to a prem top 10 team imo.

Madderson is soon 30 and got 1 year left on his contract. Simons won't play till after Christmas. Kulu we'll have to see how his recovery has gone/what he does at the WC to see if we've got the same player still.

Basically, with finances tight and maybe playing in the championship, I think we'll likely need Donley or Devine.

Devine is a lot better.

Much as I don;t want to burst the bubble of your blind faith in our youth, if we need a 10 it is more likely that Mikey will fill that spot than those two - especially when they didn;t exactly light up the championship; let alone the EPL!!!

Jamie Donley is not and never will be 'the one' for Spurs. He will hopefully have a decent career in the lower leagues...

Both he and Dorrington were the standout performers in the very successful development team, unfortunately neither seemed to have kicked on. Donley is a very good player but lacks the pace that is needed in British football, Dorrington was injured at the end of the teams winning season and has never been the same player. It's a disappointment but it's often the case with young players, I hope they can come good with an other club.

Its the same for most youngsters who come through the top teams academys, there are so many of them who usually end up in the lower leagues. Having worked with that age group its very hard for them to become a regular player at the top of the pile.
