Yes, Muani should be back helping out. But Porro has to take care of the back post, whether he trusts Danso or not is no excuse for not doing his job.

The boys care, doesn’t sit well with me this us v the players narrative that’s been building for some time now.
All about the coaching and we dropped an absolute gonad last summer that we might not recover from..

Porro ends up doubling up but ineffectively and ends up leaving the outside man, the attacking aka his man free. I personally prefer my FBs to deal with offensive threats out wide, rather than being dragged inside and then leaving a danger man free and in tons of space. It is he job after all.

I prefer that our defenders don't let someone have a free shot in our box! Or let a cross come in from wide. Our closing down by our midfield when Paulinha is not playing is so poor. Just one of the many issues with the midfield.

We could beat Wolves but Leeds are playing really well and Everton defend like well organised Moyes teams always do. We need points at Villa (hopefully concentrating on the EL) and Stamford Bridge (relatively poor form). Madders back is the real positive from today. If he can play a part in those final games we will have someone who can pass between the lines and give us a threat we've lacked all season through the middle. Still a tall order though. Gutted about today.

Also saw it a few times when the camera panned to the dugout. Different players looking nervous, shouting out, encouraging, very motive basically.
 
Couldn't really ask for more from the players. What is really gutting is today's effort a) might not be enough, even if replicated in the final games. B) shows if we had De Zerbi or a coach of similar standard earlier (e.g. instead of Tudor) i think we wouldn't even be in this mess.

I think it's a really poor show from some posters to immediately launch into Thomas Frank being a loser the first vaguely positive result we get (and we didn't even win!). Frank was the wrong manager but hell we haven't had a "right manager" for a long time. And where we are this season is not because of one bloke, it's not like our form under Frank was a blip. We are where we are because of poor decisions in both recruitment and manager hire since Poch left imho. We have qualified for the Champions League through the league once since that bloke left. It's too early even to say that RDZ will be a success.

There was the same defensive fragility today that I saw when we lost the WHAM game in injury time. The same defensive fragility we've seen for 4 seasons. We have to hope we can defend better next time.

I’m sorry but I think it’s perfectly reasonable to make the point that we could have been playing with this level of intent all season. And I think completely removing the intent and ambition from the team is why so many players have played below their capabilities.

Brighton passed through us a few times. We passed through them plenty of times. When we recovered the ball, our players actually looked forward. There were options and movement in front of them. If we played with this intent all of this season we wouldn’t be 18th,

And I’m sorry to say, it’s on the manager that decided this was the right approach and the people who appointed and persisted with him. I’m not trying to keep the polarisation going, I’m making a point that this performance and level of intent and the clear comfort the players showed in playing this way shoots down the argument that these players were bad and could only be trusted to play in the most risk averse of ways.
