Igor the Interim

Reports from Romania that Igor's father has passed away...if so, I wish him all the very, very best, the poor guy...here is the link for this (I saw it on a reddit forum)

Sorry for him. Give him a few days, and then discuss a mutually agreed termination. Get someone lined up in those few days. Someone should already be more or less lined up, if not it's another fudge up by this board.

They beat us 3-0 at the City Ground beat liverpool too and drew with Arsenal. His record was 10 wins and 9 losses over 25 games according to AI. Read on the BBC that just on his own results he would have them 12th. So, I don’t think he is a good long term option but he knows how to organise a team in the short term and has been there before. I think we could do a lot worse.
Fair enough, you’ve obviously given it more thought than I did. Just my gut instinct when Forest sacked him was that it was a good move by them and bad news for us. As for what we do now I really haven’t a clue.

Disagree. The club has acted without class for way too long.

I'd tell Tudor he's on compassionate leave till whenever he wants to come back. A month is about usual for a direct family member in most work places. But I'd also get Mason in tomorrow to lead his assistants in the interim.

I agree about Mason and about the broad approach. Not sure re a month being standard, though, three to five days would be more typical for a parent, although in particularly distressing circumstances any decent employer would extend this to whatever the employee needed, and this would likely be significantly longer for loss of a spouse or child, albeit likely unpaid.

This puts us in a really tricky situation on many levels.

We must show compassion and give Igor time and space (and ideally he should dictate how long that is).

On the flip side WE are in an emergency situation.

Naturally, Its a sensitive moment

Will anything and everything conspire against us this season!??

I suppose a 3 week break is at least one small circumstance that helps us.

It will supposedly cost around £200 million if we go down … spend the money to get Ancelotti, Klopp and Pochettino in … throw the money at it … you have inspired me Gutterboy.

TBH though its pro sport, you can say behind the scenes "look Igor we are going to pay you till the end of the season, we will put you on compassionate leave but we need to also move on"

I think that helps everyone involved and keeps the PR side where people seem to think it needs to be.

We do need to move on though and I mean that respectfully, we can't have 2/3 week gap of no manager

I know we can't wait that long....but after yesterday they might have been thinking, 'right Monday morning we dismiss him and move on' ....you don't do that once his personal news comes in. And as I say, ideally you then let Igor take the time and space he needs. And it's then it's easily construed as insensitive to curtail that with a phone call.

...and the needs of 'pro sport' (and all it's ugliness) can do one when dealing with death.

(That's not a dig at your comment, just a general thought)

I think you can do both, be sensitive to the situation and move on as a club in whats a critical time for us and him

It’s very sad, but it’s elite sport, and a multi-billion pound business. He has to go quickly - really within the next 24-48 hours. It can still be done in the kindest way (“We are mutually terminating his contract due to difficult personal circumstances etc.”)

It's not acting without class, he gets a few days, but the world goes on.

A month?? A week for parents. Only way you'd get a month is if it's for a child. No business throws themselves under the bus just to be compassionate to an employee.

He hasn't performed and should be sacked. While I have sympathy for him it can't override what the club needs to do. A few days and then a mutual agreement.

Interesting there’s been no communication from the club regarding the bereavement too. These things absolutely fuel narratives against us. They need to be decisive and they appear to be unable to do so
