Nice to see Sky Sports utilising Michael Dawson to interview our players instead of their usual Goons!

Whoever comes in moving him to left back (if he stays) should be a consideration.

I think he's a pretty average centre back with above average physical attributes.

If we lined up

Porro
Romero
Danso
VDV

For the rest of the season I actually think that's a better back 4 then the Spence variations we play now.

Porro
VDV
Udogie
Spence

As options for those positions gives nice rotation options.

Nonsense that he is over rated. Put him into a good side that keeps possesion and he isnt defending in his penalty box for 85 minutes and he will look class again.

You stick Saliba & Gabriel in this team all season and they have Romero & VDV they might not be top of the league but would still be in the title race and we wouldn’t be much higher than 14th.

A Gooner friend was harping on about how VdV was blatantly ignoring Tudor during the game. I didn’t watch the game but he sent me a vid of the incident and you’ve got to admit it doesn’t look good.

Is VdV already counting the days till he leaves us this summer? If so, do we take the captaincy away from him the next couple games?

I hope not but the eye-test is not giving me a warm, happy feeling about this.

It’s Chris Cowlin that posted the video. Lots of fans around him are saying he was talking to Dragusin and not VDV. They all hate Cowlin as they should.

He was perfect for the playground football we were playing under the last manager but one, but I don't think his all-round play is the best. He relies heavily on his pace for making recovering challenges, whereas he wouldn't have to do that so often if he were better positioned. Having said that, whether or not a defender's position is good or bad will usually depend on where his team-mates are, and I've often felt coaching this lot must be a bit like herding cats.

There's a narrative building against VdV and sadly, some of our fans are buying it. Some of the headlines on that this week have been disgraceful.

I've seen several pundits having a pop at VdV. I've seen a headline on Talksport where it says McCoist hammered VdV and during the conversation he says he didn't even see the clip. It's too easy to see what you want to see in videos like this and then build a narrative around it - glad Tudor cleared it up.

The club will ask for a huge fee if he wants to leave and I don’t think he will look to go myself, if he can see the right progress again

As with Romero, the fan base shares most of their frustrations.
