One thing I would say, is I know Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal fans that looked at us with envy during Pochs time here (although Liverpool then started to reap the benefits of their Messiah arriving).

Agreed with your last point, and this ties into what @Muttley was saying. I also agree that I’d like us to be as successful as possible within this new financial paradigm we have. Unfortunately we’ve made routinely terrible decisions on the football side. Haven’t shown patience with the right people. But Poch showed what was possible during his run.

Understood, and will probably answer will a little more detail later .. the two quick points would be, 1/very few really makes money in PL consistently, 2/The issue with us is more (IIRC, when last I looked at the numbers) cash flow, not trying to say the club has any real financial problems (the point was more to the people who think us having PSR margin and being the 9th highest revenue meant the club was sitting on some 400M of cash or whatever)

That we were in the top 20 and at times in the top 15 with a 36k stadium and a team sitting in mid table and no European football and before the Premiership TV deals globally exploded just proves what a massive club we are to be honest.

Credit does absolutely go to Levy & ENIC for building on that. But they needed the existing fanbase and history of Spurs to build upon in the first place. Had they taken over Charlton Athletic who finished above us in 2001 I am sure they would be in a better place than they are today but there wouldn’t be a 62,000 seat space ship in south London that’s home to a club generating £750M+ this year.

Of course, but TBF there was an abyss from the 100m or Man United and us on 36m a year revenue in like 95/96, in fact it the gap grew further at the 90s went on, to being on equal footing with some absolute historic giants of the game now. Yes it was built on some foundations, but the ground made up is staggering revenue wise.
