American politics

Your critims of Biden are that he’s too right wing lol

And? You said you wanted to see if I had criticisms the Dems. The Dems are not left wing in any world. They are economically and socially right wing. Unless you have an understanding of right and left that isn't based on political theory and just what you read on social media?

I await some humility from you.

That’s fair I was not clear with my pooint and apolagise for that. You’ve explained one of my main issue with the Democratic Party.

Do you hold any view points or support any political ideas that are not to the left?

Observer just following this discussion (and finding it hard not to involve LOL)...could I suggest you actually define what current political ideas feel 'to the left' for you (again in 2026 context)?

:-), got it. Maybe just a few key ones?

Support nationalising key utilities. Don’t think we should be paying for basic necessities like water, electricity, internet. Public transport as well.

Very much anti Israel. Believe they have been and continue to commit a genocide in Palestine. Favor diplomacy over military intervention in almost all cases.

Anti Gun. I think it should be incredibly difficult to own a gun. Anti libertarian in a lot of ways. Support high levels of survalence etc

Support heavy regulation of banking industry. Don’t support a wiping of student debt specifically but other types of debt, medical specifically. Regulation of Food industry.

In the US support a Medicare for all type healthcare program. Support massive pay increases for teachers. Should be one of the highest paid professions. Support a much higher corporation tax. Anti Death Penalty.

I can’t vote in the US but voted Labour in 2005 in the only election I’ve been able to vote in. Wouldn’t have voted for Brexit although not pro EU either just felt once were in better of sticking it out. My wife and I are fairly aligned politically and she tends to vote for who I would suggest she votes for. 2012 Obama, 2016 Clinton, 2020 Biden. In 2024 I would have not voted but my wife voted Trump.

If we were to nationalise public services we do pay for them via taxes. Rather than paying dividends for the most part.

If being anti Israel is left wing and being anti genocide is you then you might be left wing by your own admission of seeing a genocide.

I could go on.

However you misunderstand economic and social scales of left to right.

The wealth being amassed at the top and keeping the peasants hungry so they don't rise up isn't freedom. It's servitude. There needs to be a redistribution of wealth so people are not living below the poverty line when there is more than enough to around. That's humane. Not left or right.

Sure. Are you going to answer my question?

Its hard to answer your question about left and right when you have a very poor understanding of socioeconomics. Once you understand what left and right are maybe. Or once we agree what each means.

You think Israel commit a genocide but you also think it's bad to oppose Israel. This has nothing to do with right and left wing. Candace Owen's and Tucker Carlson are anti Israel. They are about as right wing as you get.

I take Robp135 point that the in-action of local governments has created part of the problem almost forcing Trumps hand to implement his policy.
Since the 60's mass protest have been part of US political life, many with violent outbursts from both sides, allowing virtually all the population to be armed makes these situations very dangerous and shooting will follow and people will over react to small incidents which soon get out of hand.
We see similar things happening here but fortunately we are not walking round like John Wayne ready to shoot anyone who doesn't agree or upsets us.
It's not just an American problem all countries have elements in their law enforcement forces who are or behave in an extremism way.
I dont see any easy solution to this problem as law enforcement has become detached from the general public and usually deal with law breakers and the worse part of our societies.

Mate stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room and answer the bloody question. I understand what your saying and your not even wrong.

But there are still come very clear difference between left and right wing view points and you must be able to pick out something you have an opinion on that would traditionally be classed as a right wing view.

Traditionally Right wing podcast hosts being able to oppose Israel or hold many other opinions that don’t fit in with being right wing just show that those particular hosts are capable of independent thought….or just smart enough to know when something is a 90-10 issue and be on the right side of it to help their career. You also see presenters from TYT holding some traditionally right leaning views now.

I never said it’s bad to oppose Israel either btw. You’ve misread that.

This doesn't make sense. You don't make sense. You are naming examples of right and left wing. You can't explain what they are.
