Always good to take out the highest and lowest outliers when taking an average IMO
Yes but surely somewhat skewed by last season when we won the Europa?I worded it wrong - it's not a seasonal average (taking the final position of each season) but a cumulative of points from all games played.

3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 4th, 8th, 5th, 17th*There's always mitigating circumstances that need to be accounted for - the overall picture is we haven't been very good for a long while

Average position = 5th if taking out the highest and lowest finishes as clear outliers.
(The above also shows what schmucks we were sacking Pochettino)
I just picked 10 years as a reasonable time frame. The current squad of players have only been here this season. Why are you referencing Poch years when discussing the current squad of players?
Poch and Redknapp both failed to get past the best of the rest point.
With some of the best players in the world in their squads. Both were still mainly operating under a zero net spend regime.

There is more to it, but I defy anyone (even Ange) to fail with Modric and Bale in a team.Yes. Although did we have as good a squad as others?
Then it begs the question is it about the manager or the players? I'd say both. When both managers took over though neither squad was considered to have some of the best players in the world in them.
At the end of the day though it's a lot more complicated than we're crap now because we hired a manager from a "little team".

You'd have to ask Levy why he sacked him. If you read the contemporary news articles at the time, the players had stopped playing for him. That probably had something to do with it.Then why did ramos get sacked? Both were here before redknapp took over.

We won't get relegated. The three at the bottom are so bad we could probably stay up with our current points.Yep. Think jenas even said it was jols team that won the cup.
Is frank the right manager for us? Maybe not. But i've said i'll give him a season (as with any manager we get) then look at it. Unless we look like we'd get relegated.
And apparently we started this season in 17th place so we’re actually doing very well.I just picked 10 years as a reasonable time frame. The current squad of players have only been here this season.

I think you'll find we started it in 18th place. And apparently we started this season in 17th place so we’re actually doing very well.
I did say at the time how stupid if was of our chairman to sack the manager. However there was a smallish but quite vocal minority on here that wanted him sacked. I suspect most of them now realise the folly of their thoughts. Those were the days… we’ve gone frommost points in the PL over a 100 game period a decade ago to
over the next century of games then down to 5th and now we’re propping up the top half of form table over past 2.6 seasons… hopefully we’re now past the nadir of our painful rebuild!
