Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Is no one else concerned else that yet again we have a player who walked off angry
I'd be more concerned if only one of them walked off angry, but really it's what they are angry at that's important.
Now, of course we never know what really goes on but I'm getting sick of this "the players aren't buying in" crap.
Last season it was because we were too attack minded, this season it's because we don't attack, are they fudging goldilocks players, everything has to be just right or it all goes to pot.
Not giving Frank excuses, he's not been great Imv, but he isn't being helped by the players who are allegedly the senior professionals.

Players are massively fickle and they also talk

Historically we have a culture where the players know they will outlast the manager. If things aren't going well they can act up as there ultimately isn't any repercusions for them, manager goes, new one comes, rinse a repeat.

A large step towards changing the mentality of the club is to keep the manager and show the players that he is the ultimate authority. Be fickle all you want, but not at this club has to be the ethos. Twice now Spence's behaviour has been open to interpretation. He's not earned the right, he's no Keane or Viera. Look at Arteta, just bombed out players he didn't want, the rest fall in line and now he has a cult.

Issue is when you sack a manager who has won a trophy you change the bar

Managers with much more standing in the game have been undermined at this club.

For me sacking Jose on the verge of a cup final and then finding out that it was only our one world class player who wanted him to stay is more indicative of the mentality.

I never found much wrong with what Conte said either. Yeah the man is a nutter, but it was too easy for people to ignore the truth in what he said because it was him who was saying it.

I agree in principle, but I don't think Frank is the man we should be backing.

CL final, sacked
LC final sacked,
EL winner sacked.

Nuno, players never looked interested.
Conte, I never wanted him, but if you're going to employ him let him go full tasmanian devil on them, and let's face it most of them deserved it.

What sums this club up more than anything else for me, from directors to fans, Harry kane.
From late Poch onwards it should have been written into every managers contract that if Harry kane is within 10 yards of a free kick you're fired.
If I'd been in that dressing room someone is leaving with a black eye.
We love a hero at this club, the fact they usually fail to deliver doesn't seem to bother anyone.

Great post. Lets be honest we have had a lot of managers since Pooch went and we wonder why we NEVER get any consistancy from the team. Players know that we fans are always saying we need ANOTHER MANAGER and look where we are again. We never learn.

Issue we have is when you appoint the wrong manager it’s easy to get rid
Anointing the right one you have to back him
We have half backed some and expected more from it

The commentators who before every one would claim he was a free kick expert triggered me.

A deflected free kick against Villa doesn't make you Juninho Pernambucano.

If only he coached an attacking way of playing
You know that Hutchinson and Igor Jesus weren’t at forest last season. They are new to the team.
What’s the reason for the inability to defend then?

I think we are playing in a more attacking way to make up for being so unpolished in attack. Leaving us more exposed.

But the whole team needs to settle. We’ve made some silly individual errors that cost goals. The first two we conceded against Forest aren’t a coach messing up, but players messing up. And the reason they do is because they are not settled or good enough.

Ok
Do agree they were individual errors
Do think the fact we concede more goals so far under Frank then previous manager and a lack do any attacking plan is really really worrying

This is what has frustrated me most about the club. We expect miracles from the managers.

We don’t have the most money. Fine. But we are also aren’t willing to get through a couple of hard seasons in order to let a vision fully come to fruition, where it might counteract the relative lack of money.

So we expect miracles. And the only one that delivered consistent over performance over a number of years in the league was Poch. And then we sack him anyway! And then we sack the guy who actually won a trophy.

I think they’re probably gonna let it ride with Frank because they think he is a good long term bet, but who knows. I agree that we have to stop the cycle and show someone patience.

I agree
Although dwindling attendances will likely be be a factor and they will never associate that with prices will they 😡😡😡
We know Frank is a data guy so I do wonder if any of the DOFs are too

I’d say structure and coaching are the cure
But hey we all see different things

Yes structure and coaching are vital, but a managers first job is to get to know their players. As well as get new players settled. How would you achieve structure and coaching quicker by ripping things up and changing everything again?

I’d have carried on trying to play attacking football first and not rip up things
He has had a fair amount of players available to form a side that can attack and defend and we haven’t seen that balance enough over his tenure so far
Almost as of everything has been ripped up and changed
