*** The official 2025/26 Premier League thread ***

But but but their owner shows ambition…

Their current owners could probably pump in money if they were allowed to. They, like Everton, are suffering from decades of overspending. Every owner who has attempted to spend their way to the top have ultimately not had enough money and now they can't. Time to get rid of overpaid mercenaries and do things the hard way, like we did.

Looks like the wheels have fallen off at Villa.
Opened X and was presented with a thread in Villa (not sure why?)... the Villans are restless. Lost the dressing room, players unhappy, players lazy (Emery quote), won't drop certain players etc .

Tbh it is still very early in the season but this fills like a cycle ending and I bet some of that is to do with Villa just not having the finances to push things forward.

They overachieved massively when Emery came in and he did a brilliant job for 2.5 seasons. As you say, they don’t have the spending power to maintain it. That’s why you have to win things in the window you get when you’re a good team. And they need to rein in their spending on wages.

lol - the last thing we need is Villa, Everton and Toon all growing organically the right way following the Spurs model. Can you imagine having a top 9?
